I know you guys have come together to help a lot of people

If it’s allowed, I would like to ask for a little help for my step mom. I will post the story below, if it’s allowed to stay up, I will edit in the GoFundMe link. Thanks either way. I don’t like asking for anything, but I don’t have the means to help her monetarily.

My father passed away October 19 of this year. He was a veteran who served two tours in Vietnam. He contracted malaria while there, as well as Agent Orange related cancer. He had to have a double lobectomy due to lung cancer on both sides. He passed away due to complications from Parkinson’s. His income was essentially the sole income for him and his wife. She gets SSI, but at a rate of less than $800/month.

She has filled out the paperwork for the life insurance payout, which isn’t much, as well as having filled out the paperwork for survivor benefits. She has heard nothing from anyone, and the only information she can get, is that it’s being processed.

When their money hit the bank the same as it always had, she paid the bills, totaling about $1,800. All of his checks were retracted leaving her -$1500 in the bank. She contacted everyone and they basically told her that she will get the benefits, but it has to be reissued in her name. Now, almost 2 months later she still has nothing. Her SSI check was eaten up in bank fees, as it will be again this month.

She is struggling to stay afloat right now. She is getting repossession letters, they are threatening to shut off her utilities, etc. She has borrowed from everyone who has it to spare, but unfortunately it wasn’t a lot. She was usually the one people borrowed from. She has had 0 income over the last two months, and it looks like it will continue to be that way until things are done “processing”.

She isn’t concerned about material things or groceries. She isn’t concerned with spending for Christmas. She just needs help keeping the house running and the cars in the driveway.
