Also, what happens when the banana turns? Does the “artist” at least provide the buyer with a lifetime supply of fresh bananas and lengths of duct tape. Does he replace them himself or is the buyer responsible for recreating his own artwork once a week?

That's a very good point. The buyer is probably actually buying a 9-year-old Guatemalan girl, and she comes with a free banana.
