What happens after death?

the body cools. the hair and nails continue to grow


and funeral home owners get huge smiles as they rake in thousands of dollars

If we lived an ordinary decent life and have some spiritual beliefs, we are met at death by loved ones who have passed away before us and whom we trust who will brief us on what is ahead and escort us to the afterlife.
Those with strong religious beliefs might be taken to a heaven that is filled others of the same beliefs if that is where they would be most comfortable.

If we lived a life of cruelty and murder, we might find the ones we killed or harmed who have died, are lying in wait to take their revenge on us.

Those who have no belief in anything beyond the material physical world might be unable to believe that they have died and wander as a ghost wondering why no one can see or hear them. They will eventually get informed or figure it out.

Those who strongly believe in soul sleep may fall into a deep sleep and not awaken for hundreds of years.

Wherever we end up after death however is merely the starting point of the rest of our eternal life. Everyone who wants to, will have all the help and opportunity they need, to learn how to rise to higher more beautiful heavens based on their own efforts.

"Their own efforts" business puzzles me.

People have no free will when they are under the control of the spiritual conditions called the addictions. These fuel so much crime, including murder.

Addictions can be to activities, as much as substances.

Grace and the prayers of loved ones can do much.

Life.

By own efforts I mean, that just like someone with addictions can get help and assistance to get free, they also need to have a desire to improve and be willing to make some effort on their own along with the help they receive. It is pretty much the same way in the afterlife.

You get some chips and a pop

Family fights over your shit.

You either go to Heaven, Purgatory first, then Heaven, or Hell.

Hair and nails do NOT continue to grow. Myth. It looks like it, because the skin and flesh around nails and hair shrivels, making those parts look like they're still growing.

The rest is true, however.

In a different dimension, a different vibration than physical earth, a higher dimension which can be called the afterlife.
