Re: the "end" according to Jehovahs Witnesses
Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society publications have made a series of predictions about Christ's Second Coming and the advent of God's Kingdom, each of which has gone unfulfilled. Almost all the predictions for 1878, 1881, 1914, 1918 and 1925 were later reinterpreted as a confirmation of the eschatological framework of the Bible Student movement and Jehovah's Witnesses, with many of the predicted events viewed as having taken place invisibly. Further expectations were held for the arrival of Armageddon in 1975, but resulted in a later apology to members from the society's leadership.

English researcher George D. Chryssides has argued that although there have been some "unrealized expectations", changes in Watch Tower chronology are attributable more to changed chronological schemes, rather than to failed predictions.[1] The Watch Tower Society has acknowledged errors, which it said helped "sift" the unfaithful from its ranks, but says adherents remained confident that "God's Word" had not failed.[2]

Your Misunderstanding about 1914 is derived from distortions disseminated by propagandists.

Brother Russel published an article in the periodical'bible examiner'back in 1876 showing that the seven times in the book of Daniel would end in 1914,

This position has NEVER!!Changed.

1799 and 1874 dates pertained to speculation about the Lord's inspection of his church and had nothing to do with the gentile times, also these did not originate with the watchtower society which was founded in 1879.

none of the other dates had anything to do with the end of the seven times mentioned in the book of Daniel.

The apostles of Christ also speculated about the date and hour of Jesus'coming to destroy the present set up see John21:23.

Not to mention people like John Wesley,Martin Luther,Tertullian,All of Whom are regarded as heroes of the faith by Christendom.

Re: the "end" according to Jehovahs Witnesses
Alan Greenspan’s 2007 book is The Age of Turbulence: Adventures in a New World. In it, one finds yet another reference to that pivotal year, 1914. Optimism prevailed before and pessimism after. It's an idea that pops up repeatedly in historical writings:

Greenspan writes: "By all contemporaneous accounts, the world prior to 1914 seemed to be moving irreversibly toward higher levels of civility and civilization; human society seemed perfectible.
The nineteenth century had brought an end to the wretched slave trade. Dehumanizing violence seemed on the decline...

The pace of global invention had advanced throughout the nineteenth century, bringing railroads, the telephone, the electric light, cinema, the motor car, and household conveniences too numerous to mention: medical science, improved nutrition, and the mass distribution of potable water had elevated life expectancy...

The sense of the irreversibility of such progress was universal."

But...."World War I was more devastating to civility and civilization than the physically far more destructive World War II: the earlier conflict destroyed an idea.

I cannot erase the thought of those pre-World War I years, when the future of mankind appeared unencumbered and without limit.

Today our outlook is starkly different from a century ago but perhaps a bit more consonant with reality.

Will terror, global warming, or resurgent populism do to the current era of life-advancing globalization what World War I did to the previous one? No one can be confident of the answer."

PLENTY more where that came from, too.

Also, check out aerial views of other campgrounds- in the same area, for instance- to see whether there are not certain purely practical similarities.

The person you quoted is "misunderstanding"? Quoting from a source that is most likely posted by a headquarters damage control JW? Since their little blue idol jw.org is plastered on the page how could it be a misunderstanding when they themselves said it? If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.

Propagandist? You look well versed in propaganda. Nice selection and stacking you've used there along with "propagandist" and "Christendom". Why don't you throw in "the truth," "worldly," or some other mind control key words since you're shilling for them.

Here are some documented statements about 1914. There are many more for those who are "allowed" to research it.

"the deliverance of the saints must take place some time before 1914 is manifest" Thy Kingdom Come (1911 ed.) p.228

"the Day of Vengeance ... will end in October, 1914" The Day of Vengeance p.547

"the great "time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation," will reach its culmination" The Time Is at Hand (1889 ed.) page 77 - page 78

"we present proofs that the setting up of the Kingdom of God is already begun" The Time Is At Hand (1889 ed.) p.101

"we consider it an established truth that the final end of the kingdoms of this world, and the full establishment of the Kingdom of God, will be accomplished near the end of A.D.1914." Studies in the Scriptures - The Time is at Hand (1889) 1911 ed. p.99

"October, 1914, will witness the full end of Babylon" Watch Tower 1911 Jun 15 p.190 (reprints p.4842)

"Christendom, will have passed away, as already shown in prophecy." Thy Kingdom Come (1891 ed.) p.153

"By linking the "seven times" of Daniel 4:25 with "the times of the Gentiles", they anticipated that Christ would receive Kingdom power in 1914." Watchtower 1998 Sep 15 p.15

"For over thirty years before that date and for half a century since, Jehovah's witnesses have pointed to the year 1914 as the time for the end of "the appointed times of the nations" and the time in which Christ would begin his Kingdom rule. (Luke 21:24)" Watchtower 1966 Feb 15 p.103

"But bear in mind that the end of 1914 is not the date for the beginning, but for the end of the time of trouble." Zion's Watch Tower 1894 Jul 15 p.226

"Jehovah's witnesses pointed to the year 1914, decades in advance, as marking the start of "the conclusion of the system of things." Awake! 1973 Jan 22 p.8

OPTIMISM BEFORE, PESSIMISM AFTER.

1.) "Those who have an adult's recollection and an adult's understanding of the world which preceded World War I look back upon it with a great nostalgia. There was a sense of security then which has never since existed." Benjamin J. Anderson (1886-1949), Economics and the Public Welfare

2.) We read "Historic events are often said to have 'changed everything.' In the case of the Great War [1914-1918] this is, for once, true. the war really did change everything: not just borders, not just governments and the fate of nations, but the way people have seen the world and themselves ever since. It became a kind of hole in time, leaving the postwar world permanently disconnected from everything that had come before." A World Undone, by G J Meyer, (2006)

3.) Everything would get better and better. This was the world I was born in. . . . Suddenly, unexpectedly, one morning in 1914 the whole thing came to an end.—British statesman Harold Macmillan, New York “Times,” November 23, 1980

4.) Civilization entered on a cruel and perhaps terminal illness in 1914.” Frank Peters, St. Louis “Post-Dispatch January 27, 1980

5.) In 1914 the world lost a coherence which it has not managed to recapture since. . . . This has been a time of extraordinary disorder and violence, both across national frontiers and within them. The Economist,” London, August 4, 1979

6.) The whole world really blew up about World War I and we still don’t know why. . . . Utopia was in sight. There was peace and prosperity. Then everything blew up. We’ve been in a state of suspended animation ever since. Dr. Walker Percy, “American Medical News,” November 21, 1977

7.) Thoughts and pictures come to my mind, . . . thoughts from before the year 1914 when there was real peace, quiet and security on this earth—a time when we didn’t know fear. . . . Security and quiet have disappeared from the lives of men since 1914. German statesman Konrad Adenauer, 1965

8.) In 1914 the world, as it was known and accepted then, came to an end.” James Cameron (the historian, not the movie-maker) 1959

9.) Ever since 1914, everybody conscious of trends in the world has been deeply troubled by what has seemed like a fated and pre-determined march toward ever greater disaster. Many serious people have come to feel that nothing can be done to avert the plunge towards ruin. They see the human race, like the hero of a Greek tragedy, driven on by angry gods and no longer the master of fate. Bertrand Russell, New York “Times Magazine,” September 27, 1953

10.) More and more historians look back upon World War I as the great turning point of modern history, the catastrophic collapse which opened the way for others, perhaps the final one. Professor D. F. Fleming, Vanderbilt University
