Who you are, your personality, versus your character traits
Your personality is unique just like God's. We know his personality through the man Jesus Christ because that is his own body.

Personality is what you will do in any given situation. If we each sat down to a piano we might hit different keys. If given a selection of ice cream we might choose different flavors. If we were given the same coloring book we might open to the same page, choose the same crayon, but color a different part. Personality is doing the same things in different ways.

Character is traits that accentuate your personality. Here is a picture that has a list of character traits, although they include emotions as character traits such as "angry" which is not a trait. That's the only one but for instance happy also is not s trait. How you feel is not a trait but being "moody" is.

The great thing is that ALL negative character traits can be decreased or even overcome altogether, and all positive traits can increase both in quality and frequency.

People with their unique personality and good character traits can still talk about degenerate things, and someone with negative character traits can also talk about degenerate things. So what people do is separate from their personality and character but not always, for instance a lazy person will not necessarily do what an active person will do.

Who you are remains the same. You are always you and God will never change your personality. He will help you develop better character traits and choose to do better things and give you what you need to do so.

I believe that who you are and your character is developed by the things you go through and are part of you, so that if your entire past memory was erased you would still be you according to your character. Maybe I am wrong and forgetfulness resets character. That does seem a little more likely the case.
Jesus Christ is God. Read the Holy Bible, keep his commandments, obey all of his commands, save your soul.

Re: Who you are, your personality, versus your character traits
Hmm, I don't think I have much of a personality or character then.

What I mean is, I start out as a point of perception within a void of nothingness. From there, due to mechanism's I do not understand, that point of perception is tied to my body.

From my body, sensory data is generated which my point of perception perceives. If I have cause to be happy, I am happy. If I have cause to be sad, I am sad and etc.

Within that framework, I have a preloaded script that dictates certain behavioral responses under certain circumstances. I cannot harm others, while in safemode*, and generally violating that script causes massive discomfort or pain.

What you define as "character", is nothing more then sensory data to me. Even my own thoughts, I perceive to be nothing more then sensory data to be examined and contemplated on.

Under certain circumstances and stimuli, any one of those character traits could readily manifest.

*I liken it to a sheathed sword. When a sword is sheathed, it cannot imagine or actualize, the act of cutting. When a sword is unsheathed, it cannot imagine or actualize, the act of not cutting.
