Anonymous Coward User ID: 26471048 United States 12/07/2019 06:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Does a bank have any recourse for payment in personal check, and "scam"? I purchased some information, geo-survey, etc. from a 3rd party. After receiving the information it literally is for a site I've visited many times in the past years, as well as being widely known. I have reached out to the individual but I have not heard back. It is in the US, TX.
Anyways, I'm hoping they do the honorable thing and send me my $$$ back. If not, would my bank have any leverage, similar to a CC dispute? Anyone? Thanks. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 26471048 The BBB can help. You can make a complaint online fairly easily. I've used them before and the businesses have always worked it out |

You should be able to file a claim with your bank stating that it was a fraudulent transaction. They can run a trace on the wire or the check and ask the recipient bank to send the funds back to you. If it is a scam, the recipient's account is probably long closed by now and you will never get your money back.
If it was fraud, you could also file a police report and report them to the Attorney General, Better Business Bureau, etc. |
