Does getting married basically wreck your life?

Not for me...

My marriage has sucked at times too but I wouldn't give back a minute of it.

I think if either of us thought of marriage as disposable it would have wrecked our lives but the fact we both recognized it as a permanent commitment matters to the outcome.

Luckily I married someone worth that commitment and while he has changed (and so have I) our cores have not.

Basically...yes.

Not understanding what a commitment is ruins your life.

It certainly wrecks the life you would have had if you didn't get married. But it gives you another life instead.

It ages you like a motherfucker too, especially with kids.

You can be a 40yr old dude married with kids and you'll legit like like a struggling, cucked 60yr old. Weirdly enough, you'll also begin struggling with premature back-problems and ailments reserved for old-timers.

Contrary to popular belief, older, divorced/widowed women with children are having an easier time bouncing back and finding another "mate" and it's usually a younger fella. It used to be completely the opposite back in the days. You're a man, married with children, it's basically over for you.
