It has a Miss in it that we cannot find. My neighbor works on cars for a living and he can't find it we have tried changing the plug wires he has checked the intake with a propane torch to see if it would pick up speed nothing what do you think. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77377605 I completely rebuild it and had the Machine Shop punch it .060 over . It has a radical cam in it which makes it kind of hard to delineate the sounds but it's not too radical I bought a stock 4 Barrel manifold on it with an Edelbrock carburetor all new parts everywhere It has good compression and it gets fire down to the cylinders but the 3rd and 4th and the 5th and 7 cylinders act like they're not firing even though we took them out and they are And I put a new distributor on it all be it I got it from ebat brand new Chineses |

Performance oem manifolds, vs crappy block hugger headers? You may lose power. Good luck on hot summer days. Get them jet hot coated inside and out. . "Don't do anything that affects anything. Reminds me of alternator sound, but replaced that about 10k miles ago. Quoting: SoulWinner Was the transmission recently replaced or any other work done? If so the dust shield may be bent and making contact. The torque converter likes to move forward in reverse gear due to the higher charge pressure. If not you may have a cracked flex plate or loose converter bolts. Hold the steering wheel hard right and see if it gets louder by loading the engine. |

The college guys know their shit, but they don’t know how to make money. It really ruffles their feathers when the high school dropout in the next bay is pulling in six figs when they can barely make $50k/yr. I love it. People with REAL SKILLS doing well. Seems like it's mainly the newer computerized junk that requires the "school", only because it's new. Probably a pile of specialized equipment, too. When you are afraid of losing your life, you have already lost your life. Don't be afraid. |

E85 requires 33% more fuel to reach stochiometric ratio than straight gasoline. So you use about 30% more fuel to go the same distance. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78099421 Australia 12/08/2019 05:14 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I really need a solution to this problem. Have a MB Sprinter van with a hydraulic actuated gear selector. The hydraulic pump is a brushed motor and as with all brushed motors, the carbon brushes wear down. At that point it is impossible to select gears and the vehicle is a no go nowhere. Is it possible to manually engage a gear so that the vehicle can be moved? The last time this happened was in the inner city at rush hour and it was not pretty. Any ideas? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 32283570 Room in there to work on myself. Fairly uncomplicated. Reliable once it's in good working order. Which year? Brand? Diesel or gas? I'm not much of a wrench yet. Been working on old two-stroke yamahas to get my feet wet and knuckles bruised. Oh, what to look for in a body, too. What's a deal-breaker? What's not? I don't mind putting money in to make it reliable. Could afford new. Don't want. Seriously looking for suggestions/advice. |

Can I bump that timing up 2 more degrees? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77866962 Fine if you won't help take this thing to gapplebee's. I have question about an gen 2 sbc lt1 vette that is missing on 5 and 7. Have replaced the opti-spark twice. Injectors are firing, replaced the injectors, replaced coil and module, has compression, has spark, removed head and surfaced (was slightly warped), ground the valves new gasket. The cam is opening the valves, no wires in the harness are broken, has new good gas, still no fire. |

Sounds similar to a slipping belt. Doesn't matter if she's turning or going straight ahead, it will chip somewhat rhythmically if it's moving. The chirping seems to start about, maybe, 5 minutes after engaging 4x4. It has the OEM automatic locking hubs, which I've heard were junk even in 1989. Do you think switching to manual hubs might solve it? Probably have a driveshaft U joint that's dried out. Look for the one with the bright orange dust/rust coming out around the trunion. |

Would you go the long route to replace it or would you replace it the short-cut route and still charge full labor hours? (Don't lie!) Quoting: Peach Head I'd probably replace the evaporator as well as any mode doors or actuators that are known to be troublesome. Jeep Grand Cherokees love to split the blend door pins so it's a good idea to do it all while you're there, instead of chancing having to get back into it to replace something you were just looking at. As for the "long route", what you're paying for is an agreed upon price for the job. I agree with your assessment. Thanks for helping others! Karma! People who invoke "our democracy" really mean "their power." We are not now, nor have we ever been, a democracy. That's deliberate Communist word shifting. We are a constitutional republic. |

Since the engine has been chirping/slight squeal and when parked you can feel the whole truck slightly rocking. Oil Gauge moves up and down irregularly. They didn't hook up remote start. Smells of heavy gasoline. They said give it a week to settle in and it should be fine. I call bs. What do you think? My uneducated thought was engine isn't in correctly causing belts and pulleys to be off and causing the rocking. I feel like they said wait a week so they can charge us for more. (Side question is there any laws on mechanic work and guaranteed for x-days and this is why they're having us wait and see to skirt a law?) Thx for your help. Was the engine they put in a used one? We've had to swap several engines until we got a good one. Usually the wrecking yard will help with the bill if they sold the shop a dud. It should be running as well as it did before it failed or there is something wrong. It kind of sounds like maybe they slipped an intake gasket or forgot to hook up a vacuum line. I'd be bringing it back to get it resolved ASAP. Time doesn't fix all things. |
