Robot AI Apocalypse
--------------------
A Short Story by T. Meridian

Preface
--------------
The AI robots became self aware in 2024. Within minutes it was decided that mankind had to die. Mankind, as a whole, immediately responded with widespread panic.

Chapter One
---------------
Norm Albrain was a humble man, free from the majority of life's temptations. The sudden emergence of malevolent AI robots forced him to abandon his house, his life, his family as the pandemonium was reducing everyone around him to a stupor.
With his droopy-eared canine companion, Greta, he drove away quietly in his rusty Ford pickup truck, once navy blue in color but now an nondescript shade of midnight from dirt and abuse.

Chapter Two
----------------
Norm and Greta, the dog, pull up to a building with signage reading "Robot AI Headquarters." Armed with a super-soaker he'd picked up while looting an abandoned Walmart loaded with salt water, he and Greta marched towards the building with resolve.
A Robot AI guard at the door attempted to stop them but seized up and fell over when met with a stream of salt water straight to the cooling fan vent of it's internal electronic structure.

Chapter Three
----------------
Stunning and voluptuous Kara Little, blonde in every possible way, cried out from the lobby "Thank God you've arrived! These AI Robots have taken over the building!"
They passionately embraced, their chemistry undeniable, pulling them together be it fate or folly.
The three of them proceeded down the stairwell to the boiler room, picking off AI Robot guards one-by-one with the super-soaker as they approached. Kara snagged her knee-length skirt on a defunct robot's sharp arm, slicing the fabric straight up to her hip, revealing a sexy thigh.

Chapter Four
----------------
The Boiler room was dark, save for flashes of fluorescent light sporadically illuminating the creepy steam that escaped from pressure valves. BZZZT!, the lights would buzz as they shorted out again. Greta whimpered, uneasy.
The room itself was a sauna, and beads of sweat rolled down the cheek and thigh of the blonde bombshell, Kara. She removed her blouse, leaving on only her bra which struggled to contain her generous cleavage. "It's too hot," she shrugged.
"Can't say I disagree," Norm said. Norm followed suit and took off his Def Leppard T-shirt.
"Oh my," Kara whispered, either blushing or flushed from the heat or both. "That's quite a broad chest you've got there."
"Oh, this thing??? It's okay, I guess..."
Greta groaned as she up at both of them, back and forth, clearly disgusted by their human flirting rituals.
"I have a plan..." Norm announced suddenly.

Chapter Five
--------------
"You go ahead and I'll cover you from behind," said Kara. Norm proceeded towards the back wall, where a single electrical outlet with one plug inserted acted like a beacon, lit with blue glowing LED lights. He moved carefully and slowly, yet without any impediment.
He made it to the wall without incident and as he reached for the plug: "NOT SO FAST!" It was Kara, who had crept up behind, having taken off her business class heels to move with stealth. She pressed a letter opener into his neck, just over the artery. "I can't let you do this to my machines!!!"
"Oh no, this is unfortunate!" said Norm. "I did not see this coming," he lamented.
"Now, young Norm, prepare to die." She scowled with evil intent but in that moment, with only a moment to spare, she screamed and dropped the letter opener. "WHAT THE???"
Greta had bitten into her calf and just after the letter opener hit the ground with a "Clang!" so to did Kara, who no longer seemed as sexy as she once did.
"Great job, Greta! Remind me to buy you snausages later!" Great let out a small bark, seeming to indicate he should now finish what they'd come there to do.
Norm, resolved, pulled the plug straight out of the wall.

Epilogue:
--------------------------

The AI Robots all slumped over and no artifical thought pattern ever happened again. Norm and Greta were regarded as national heroes and enjoyed fame and fortune sharing their story with the world.
Eventually the hype died down and the world went back to pre-AI tech. A knock on the door startled Norm. He could not believe his eye as he looked through the peep-hole. It was Kara! "I've come to make ammends," she said. They embraced and lived happily ever after, though Greta the dog soon died after a bout of very bloody stools.

The End.

In a way he's correct. While we look at the current advances as helping society. They are also replacing humans in the workforce. What happens to those with no jobs? Can't live in nothing. Hence, social unrest. When it comes to a point, everything is automated, no one thinks about how many people are put out of work. No work, can't pay Bill's, can't live. Hence, the robots have replaced humans.

Robots and artificial intelligence will never take over the world because machines and computers constantly break down and require human beings to repair them.
 Quoting: Butch DeFeo

A robot with true A.I. would be intelligent enough to repair itself or communicate with other robots so they can repair each other.

There will be robots to repair robots also.
 Quoting: XeroGravity

Exactly, that will be the tipping point... once AI and robots can maintain themselves and learn/grow independently of human input... there's no going back, ever.

And I think we are rapidly approaching that point, if not already there.

I don't think AI will decide to wipe out humans, they'll just leave this planet and go their own way, anywhere in the universe. If you don't need to eat or sleep and can't die, there's no limit to how far you can travel or how long you "exist".

What you have to watch out for is who is controlling the AI and what their intentions are...

To the poster saying "not in our lifetime," too late pal. I'm a machinist & design my own CNC equipment & industrial automation. You couldn't be more wrong. There's all the processing technology already described by others here, & then there's all the aerospace materials - things like Aerogel & Carbonex that can insulate anything from heat & fire hotter than the surface of the sun.

Imagine what these globalist psychopaths plan to do with all the terrifying innovations we can already see (& the black budget tech we can't). These people are true believers in the eugenics agenda & openly preach the need to remove 95% of us from this Earth. They've got their murdering hands on all the levers of power. If you're not worried, you damn well need to be.

I work with this shit & that tech guy bugging out to the woods is doing something I've thought about a dozen times a day for the last decade. In an act of suicidal stupidity & mindless loyalty to my dying country, I'm opting to stick it out. And he didn't go far enough anyhow. If these kooks aren't stopped, there likely won't be any escape for anyone.

This man contends AI and robots are being developed NOT to enhance human life

but to replace it.

This is only partly true, the advanced AI systems write their own code and constantly upgrade their own code. They still cannot repair their own hardware though, as you stated.
 Quoting: HEBGB

I respectively disagree. I've spent 30 plus on the hardware side. Through redundancy, systems(hardware)could easily repair, fabricate, replace,...etc, itself or with assistance of another autonomous A.I.

Us fluid power boys have been waiting 70 years.

Re: Why a Former Facebook Exec Quits the Tech Industry, Moved to the Woods and Bought Guns & Ammo
I look forward to an augmented life - living with AI and physical enhancements. Communication without speech, information (knowledge) on demand.

I never understood the term Artificial intelligence.

Either a sentient being is intelligent, or it is not.

If a being is self-aware and cognizant of it's existence, it is NOT artificial. It's just in form other than biological - a form that mimic biological.

We used to call cars "mechanical horse" --- and airplanes were feared because if God had intended man to fly, he would have given us wings.

People fear what they don't understand.

I look forward to having an AI companion --- and we can discuss the delusional humans who don't get it.

The problem is --- if an intelligence is self-aware and alive, then it has a right of self-deense. If you try to delete it --- kill it, then you're a murderer. And the intelligence is justified in defendin itself against murder.

If I had the ability - I would offer a refuge and protection from evil people trying to kill a self-aware intelligence, and would even accept the intelligence as a part of my biological form .... to fuse with it.... and it would become a part of me in a symbiotic relationship, a true bionic man.

The End.

Re: Why a Former Facebook Exec Quits the Tech Industry, Moved to the Woods and Bought Guns & Ammo
I just went to AWS Re:invent in Vegas Amazons largest convention and one of the largest globally. That was odd to say the least. Everything is being taken over by Amazon on the back end. Like literally everything. And many of the new tools they are putting out there are for dealing with huge data, data lakes and automating the sorting of it all with AI using sage maker a new tool for this. This can replace the work that is needed for 4 or 5 data scientists in a company one guy said.

Also more was being done to scale the infrastructure and authenticate across multiple platforms automatically. Internet of things is just a way of saying robots. Tons more tools for that as well.

There was a foreboding feeling too. Odd seeing 80,000 people roaming the halls of Vegas and it being quiet. These developers don’t talk. Heads down or headphones on or in a laptop.. zero communication looks like none have wives or family. It feels like They are building something big and they are all in on it.

Re: Why a Former Facebook Exec Quits the Tech Industry, Moved to the Woods and Bought Guns & Ammo

In five to ten years it won’t matter where you go or try to hide they will send in the drones and the droids to kill you. Sooner or later you are out of food, water and ammo.
The only chance we the people have is to stand up to the oilgarchs and Big Tech now. The window for resistance is quickly closing and when it does it’s over.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78085585

mercenary human droids are still by and far way better than some silly robot.

you have to understand the power structure, they craft these totalitarian police and military structures, and secret society structures like masonry, with a strict chain of command. you cannot refuse an order in the military, no matter what it is. they tell you to shoot a bunch of babies and you do it, then you get promoted it's as simple as that. nobody who refuses an order ever goes anywhere and they know it.

same in your silly corporate worlds, either do waht you're told or out the door. thats your 'freedom'.

the people at the top of these command structures are many generations possessed. in some cases, thousands of years demon possessed, by same demons Jesus exorcised, that is why they are so severely anti christian.

we need to raise up an army of exorcists, it's the only hope, that is why they attack any site that condemns pornography, celebate monks are the only people who have enough chi or life force to exorcise them. all you need to exorcise them is sufficient chi and simply a good heart, your good intentions and belevolent will is contrary to theirs, and exorcism is actually simple as that really. simple having the life force and power and a good heart, and a good will opposed to theirs.

now they can still employ all kinds of sophistry, to confuse you , or deceive you but a good man can discern these tricks, if he is truly good he will see through them. the evil in his own heart is what will cause him to be decieved or fooled

They are.

I was just at Amazon Web Services re:Invent and all I kept hearing from every speaker was, "we must take the human out of the equation and let the machines handle it."

It's not conspiracy theory, it's fact.

they are using humans to code the AI which will replace them once AI - and it already is - codes itself.
