Re: Do women have unrealistic fantasies about becoming a mother?
TV is one reason: woman has baby on TV, and then is still going to lunch with friends, on vaca with hubby, isn't covered in vomit and doing dishes and laundry 24/7...

Then, the child appears next season and is 7 years old.

Another reason is that we aren't taught enough motherhood SKILLS and instead are taught office skills

I do agree with anyone who would say motherhood isn't actually hard. It isn't rocket surgery. It isn't easy, it isn't hard. It's a marathon.

It's worth it too.

Re: Do women have unrealistic fantasies about becoming a mother?
Regular motherhood has unrealistic fantasies and SINGLE MOTHERHOOD fantasies are even worse. If at all possible you should have a husband. You need it, the kid needs it.

In fact, you need even more than a husband to do this right.

You need a tribe. You need other people IN TOWN. Grandparents. Friends. Aunts. Don't go this alone. Don't be afraid to ask for help. And you will be saner/less stressed if you are part of a group, and not ISOLATED.

You are going to be TIRED. And busy. You thought you were "busy" before you had kids. You weren't.

Young (European) women are quickly adopting J Stalin's
irrefutable point: "No man - no problem".

You know, because "the climate".

They are not interested in motherhood anymore.

Re: Do women have unrealistic fantasies about becoming a mother?
My daughters are now in their early twenties.

I'm noticing the differences between the young men who grew up in a "normal" family with mother and father and those who didn't have a man around.

No one taught them to be a man.

It's pretty frightening.

The majority of women, yes, fantasy, irrational and illogical constructs are a major biological component in female thinking. Why this is must be a remnant survival mechanism in the distant past. We can see how this outcome has played out since the 1960's and women participating within government and the corporate environment. Has it been for the better or worse depends upon your perception.

Re: Do women have unrealistic fantasies about becoming a mother?
im a girl and i never actually THOUGHT about having babies as i grew up.
i loved playing with baby dolls and dressing up our cats in doll clothes, but the idea of having my own never seemed that important.
i was more interested in who my man would be and trying to find him.
ive had five healthy beautiful children, i never tried to have an abortion either.
they came when they came, none were planned.

as for the extra part, the day to day being a mother, i only knew i would NEVER treat my own babies like my mother did and it all worked out beautifully for me.

By now as we all know only horrid perverted (essentially meaning degenerate) men are attracted to women (by rule of exclusion actual perverted and literally degenerate 'lifestyles' are treated and promoted as generate/wholesome).

As far as I can see this is what successive generations wanted. Its why most of us argue over which members of our ancestral enemies sworn to destroy us, are the best leaders for us, the best entertainers for us, food suppliers and medical providers, providers and organisers of education and materials ...

Look at Maslows Heirarchy, people have gone out their way to make sure each successive generation from 1600 onwards has been less capable of, by today, reach the second step. Sod full self actualisation.
