Bodycam footage has been released of a police incident in the San Francisco Mission area on the 7th December. SFPD were responding to a call from a woman claiming a man tried to break into her apartment. After being stopped in the street, the suspect immediately attacks both officers. The perp (Jamaica Hampton, formerly homeless but clearly still dangerous) refuses multiple orders from both cops to get on the ground, giving one officer no option but to shoot when attacked. What is heartrending is the officer's reaction afterwards. And his immediate desire to save the victim's life and render aid. He took on a vocation requiring him to take this action if needed. But that still doesn't detract from the fact that police officers are human, and face possible abuse, injury and death every day. Moreso in San Francisco where the rising homeless and drug epidemic is stretching their endurance to the limit.
