Health experts said it would save lives. It would also impact small businesses like convenience stores. "Definitely our biggest seller," especially among young people, said Smokey Lynn, who manages the Exxon Quick Pantry in Waynesville. "As soon as they turn 18, they're here ... As long as you're carding ... There's a lot of underage buying," Lynn said." [link to wlos.com (secure)] |

Ron W User ID: 75014720 United States 12/19/2019 01:57 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The United States has NO delegated power for this law regulating tobacco use by the People. According to the clear wording of the 10th Amendment, the fedgov may do NOTHING without enumerated delegated power. ALL those who voted for this, regardless of their rhetoric about "protecting the Constitution" and "the rule of law" are doing the opposite and are ALL guilty of "abuse of power". |

Quoting: MissCleo Injecting poison before 21 is probably not a good idea anyway. You can drive a vehicle at 16. You can also drive that vehicle off a cliff or into other people. If someone is old enough at 16 to drive (place their own life and others life in danger) then they can choose to smoke if they want to. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76790892 United States 12/19/2019 02:10 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Who cares? Are a bunch of people here younger than 21 or something? Granted I sometimes think some of the troll threads are made by 10 year olds but still. Plus I thought this was discussed here couple weeks back? Must’ve jumped timelines. Colorado very hush hushedly lowered the age for a medical marijuana card to age 18 from 21. I’m personally not ok with this because there’s a lot of shenanigans going on that involve young folks with a medical card being granted a much higher “plant count” from the regular 6, or the higher amount they can buy and possess being higher (no pun) than the regular 1 ounce rule. So you’ve got these 18 yr olds that can go (or even call ahead now) and order up 4,5,6 ounces and have them all weighed out and packaged into some dime bags or whatever....and voila this is how our children are gaining access so easily clear down into our elementary and middle schools (where’s it’s now the new 9th grade of yesteryears and normalized and trendy due to goOogle brain being in everyone’s back pocket) Yes a child (under 18) can obtain a medical marijuana card in Colorado with both parents’ consent but that also requires literally three physicians’ “recommendations”, with one of the three must be the primary pediatrician of the patient with an existing and ongoing Dr/Patient relationship. there’s no such thing as a prescription for Marijuana ...not until Nixon’s scheduling of the plant as a “1” is changed. |

[link to twitter.com (secure)] So if they lower the age to 18, they’re still considered an adult right? So what would the “crime” be if someone age 21 and up purchases the cigarettes for an 18 year old??? It wouldn’t and couldn’t be contributing to the delinquency of a minor... I suppose there’s a law term that I’m just unaware of because people who purchase alcohol for someone 18 is a crime. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 77374864 United States 12/19/2019 02:31 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | THAT is Bull Shit. I don't smoke, personally HATE it ... but when you are sending 18, 19, and 20 year old kids off to possibly DIE, and KILL, in Wars and then telling them that people of their age are NOT mature enough to decide if they should smoke or vape then something it terribly wrong with the government. If you can't smoke, vape, or even drink beer at 18, 19, 20 then people of that age should also be barred from being Cannon Fodder for the Government's Military Killing Machine complex. Do NOT let people of that age into the service until they fit the definition of "mature adults" that the government is using for these other rediculous "Nanny State" control mechanisms!! |
