I like lasagna also cuz they and be assembled early.....I did them yesterday and easy to pop into oven with garlic bread and served with a big bowl of salad on the buffet.....lots of people coming over Christmas eve so I'll be too tired to cook Christmas day.....

I used to cook for the holidays. But family all moved away in a year or less. I am now alone. Holidays and food are not the same now. Still close to family, just not close in proximity (hope I spelled it right).

We only do the big family thing because my elderly dad loves it. When he finally passes on I am afraid it will be a thing of the past for us too.

One year we got away with rib eye and tbone steaks for everyone. We were tired of not getting steaks like my dad and others had regularly because we usually had 7 in the house.

But we're doing the standard turkey, dressing, brussel sprouts, homemade cranberries, organic peas, pickles and olives, mashed potatoes. All the veggies are from the health food store. With a ham for new year.


We'll have chocolates and christmas cookies for desert.

Rum and egg nog. I'll have a touch of creme de cacao in my eggnog.

Moms is doing ham on Xmas day so I am doing a pork roast with green sauce Xmas eve. Plus the obligatory Xmas day brunch. I love this time of year...

Seafood gumbo for Christmas Eve and prime rib for Christmas. No food doom here.

Any xmas drink ideas??

That sounds really good. I have not mastered that one yet, but love eating it when cooked by someone that knows how to cook it.

Everything from scratch heavily meat filled lasagna with way too much of the 4 expected cheeses as it should be. Complex salad with olive oil and balsamic glaze. Garlic bread, of course. Whole milk so cold it starts getting ice crystals.

Scallops? Halibut pieces?

There are a lot of people posting lasagna. That is an idea that I never considered but will do so in the future.

Oh, same with us. We are making it tomorrow. Caesar salad to go with it.

We are in cajun country. People here would not add anything that is not local or at least locally obtainable.

We will do the same gumbo sans the crab. Ours starts with a whole chicken. Fry some turkeys injected with Chachere seasoning.
