Those workers or engineers were in a huge rush to get out after they took their readings under the pool. The floor above them, if you can even call it that, is basically being held together by a wavy mess of rebar. Check the railings at ground level going into the building. Radiation eats through metal. So does seawater, which is what they have been cooling off those pools with for almost 9 years now. I saw at least one chunk of debris fall as they were taking a reading and the worker saw it too. This delay in removing the fuel is a cry for help imo. Why else release such a video? What the hell have they been doing for NINE F-ING YEARS over there? I saw taped ends of compression damaged ductwork in that building, that's it. |

Maybe they are gonna just wait until it burns itself out in 500 years? Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72595132 yup... or 10 0000 (carbon 14) or even better plutonium..... guess they won't make it safe before the olympics.... cough :citz_to3: YUPP, THIS IS IT...JUST WAIT IT OUT AND DONT MOVE ANYTHING UNTIL THE OLYMPICS ARE OVER AND PRAY FOR NO EARTHQUAKES AS WELL...GOOD FUCKIN LUCK! |

I see none of the CCD radiation flashes in the video. Suspicious there is not much radiation where ever that is. Could be some peripheral building. You mean 'fuel fleas'? There are a few about halfway through the video when they get under the pulverized ceilings, and you can see more when they point the camera down that access pit. |

The Olympics aren't worth it. |

I just realized that's Unit fucking 3 the pulverized ceilings used to be the bottom of the fuel pools that's.. there are no words for that |

[snip] Quoting: CitizenPerth The government decided Friday to delay the removal of spent fuel from the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant’s Nos. 1 and 2 reactors by up to five years, casting doubt on whether it can stick to its time frame for dismantling the crippled complex. The process of removing the spent fuel from the units’ pools had previously been scheduled to begin in fiscal 2023. In its latest decommissioning plan, the government said the plant’s operator, Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings Inc., will not begin the roughly two-year process at the No. 1 unit at least until fiscal 2027 and may wait until fiscal 2028. Work at the No. 2 unit is now slated to start between fiscal 2024 and fiscal 2026, it said. The delay is necessary to take further safety precautions, such as the construction of an enclosure around the No. 1 unit to prevent the spread of radioactive dust and the decontamination of the No. 2 unit, the government said. It is the fourth time it has revised its schedule for removing the spent fuel rods.
