i made $11 an hour back in 1992 and i considered that a low wage
the starbucks staff now make $12 an hour to work like whores on crack.

back in 1992 i paid $375 per month to live in a gated community with tennis courts, sauna, swimming pool, a front gate security guard on Lake Murray in La Mesa, CA (just outside San Diego).

for a 1 bedroom here now you pay at least $1,000-1,500 per month without any of those amenities

gas back then was $1.15 per gallon. now it is $4.00 per gallon.

food in 1992 cost 1/2 of what it costs now

back then you could get a sandwitch for 1/2 the price or a coffee

SO HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE PAYING FOR ALL THIS STUFF IF THIS WORLD IS SUPPOSEDLY REAL?

I EVEN LOOKED AT 6 PAIRS OF SOCKS IN WALGREENS YESTERDAY AND THE MOST INEXPENSIVE WAS $13,50

THIS WORLD IS DOOMED!!!!

Things are really tight ... no room for gifts for Christmas , no taking friends out to eat , no stone cruises ... only use car for back and forth to work ... yea inflation is hurting everyone and employers are oppressing employee's buy not giving raises accordingly ...

This isn't entirely correct considering they don't track the cost of groceries in inflation. And I seriously doubt they really count the cost of housing either considering in 1992 I could probably buy the house I am living in now for like 50,000 where as now it is over 250k.

Yes , it varies from place to place ... depending on where You live ... I grew up in Kokomo Indiana and it used to be the cheapest place in America to live in the 80's ... You have to look for bargains nowadays ... supply and demand ... When I go grocery shopping I only buy what's on sale ... especially meat ...

Re: i made $11 an hour back in 1992 and i considered that a low wage
In 1992 I paid $350 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment plus electric, which ran about $35 to $40 a month in a good part of Houston, Texas in the Rice/West U area.

The Lou Ann platter at Luby's Cafeteria where you got choice of meat, 2 vegetables, a roll and iced tea was $3.50.

A person could live very well on $11 an hour, I did.

I don't know what has happened, wages haven't gone up for most people, but cost of living has gone way up. Apartments now start at around $1250 a month and the renters now have to pay all bills in most cases, including a garbage fee and parking space.

In Australia wages are linked to inflation.. inflation is at 1.6%. These bastards have sneakily taken food and fuel out of the inflation rate. They lie about everything.
