Spain: Three American sisters aged 18 to 23 were beaten and raped on New Years Eve, three Afghans arrested

Spanish police arrested three men suspected of raping and sexually assaulting three American sisters on New Years Eve in the city of Murcia, in southeast Spain. The alleged victims, aged 23, 20 and 18 and from Ohio, reported the incident to the authorities, triggering a manhunt that lasted approximately 24 hours until the suspects were arrested.

The three women met the men in a pub on December 31. One of the sisters left with one of the men to go to his house. The other two stayed in the bar until they left with the two remaining men, made their way to the apartment where the women were staying and planned to continue their New Year celebrations. The women said they were raped by the men who, according to sources from the central government delegation in Murcia, are of Afghan origin.

According to La Opinón de Murcia , two of the women were raped vaginally and the alleged attackers did not use condoms. Thus, DNA evidence could potentially support the story of these victims. The third woman, according to the same newspaper, was not raped vaginally, but was sexually assaulted and beaten.
