In 2011-12 through this site, I got turned on to Susan Joy Rennison who is an expert and documentator of space weather. She said plasma beings were here to feed right now and that sprites in the lower atmosphere is a very very bad sign.

Now I see sprites regularly posted on FB and I read the comments to see if anybody is awake enough to properly comment and all the people say is "so pretty."

Anyway, Ms. Rennison still maintains her site on the internet. You can do your own searching.
