The brushed aluminum finish is pretty friggin cool though. Quoting: XeroGravity pretty sure it's Cerakote. 1/2048 cerokate like Pocahontas If it is cerakote, then they'd have had to spray it, brush it, antique it with an airbrush, & then bake it. It's a lot cheaper & faster to brush the aluminum, hit it with chemical oxidizer & then matte-coat it. But if this is a gun for the son of POTUS, I could see them going all out. I'd be curious to know at what temps cerakote cooks off a metal surface. I'm getting a 2-stage paintbooth for my shop & might dabble with it a bit. Watched some motorcycle guys do their bike frames in it & was impressed with the outcome. Baking that shit on is a PITA though. |
