There's nothing wrong with having a low wing design, but the original 737 airframe was designed for turbojets(much smaller cowling). That was the 737-200.

The landing gear is short and can't be increased in height without redesigning the entire center spar carry through. That's the same effort(or more) than designing a brand new aircraft.

The latter choice would have been cheaper than the current kludge.

they couldnt design a new aircraft. then they would have to do allllll that paperwork. and plus they would have to retrain all the pilots. they had to do the kludge design to avoid paperwork and training! otherwise everybody would switch to airbuses.

Again it should be obvious. There would be all the room in the world for those 737max8 engines on the AN-158, take a look. I mean, if Boeing really doesn't have the brains or talent to design and build aircraft any more, maybe they should just become a holding company and buy airplanes from Russia and Ukraine.

Boeing was trying to one up Airbus by hanging larger engines on the wings

and that made the plane fly crazy, so Boeing made flight software to compensate for the crazy aerodynamics of the heavier bigger engines

That ended up being a deadly disaster

And now all the 737 Max planes are grounded permanently

And so are the dead passengers and crew

Boeing executives knew all along

Most American pilots - even those who only fly small planes, learn to fly "stick and rudder". Any computer shit is taught later.

Many foreign pilots skip the skills stuff and learn to run the automated flight systems. The copilot on one of the crashed aircraft had only 200 hours total flight time. I've had more than four times that and I only fly small single engine aircraft.

Stick and rudder flying, real and imminent stalls, spins, crosswind and gusty landings, etc., are where piloting skills shine or not.

I was told by an American Airlines pilot that the issue is the new pilots coming in are more instrument readers than former military pilots. They do not have the ability to compensate for problems.
