Should Matt Gaetz have voted FOR Pelosi War Power Resolution on Iran? | |

Plus, I really don't think Iran deserves to be vaporized by the US Air force but that might just be me. I would vote with gaetz, because war has been terrible for our people. Caveat: I've been to war twice and plan to vote for trump a second time. It's OK to peacefully disagree. It's scary to me that the right is becoming as a hive mind just as the left been. |

Yeah you are right is very good to be tough but someone at some point has to tone down a bit. This is a country not a bar where whoever shoots first wins. |

Should Matt Gaetz have voted FOR Pelosi War Power Resolution on Iran? [link to gaetz.house.gov (secure)] Complete idiot. Why fall on a liberal sword that has no chance of changing anything? It's not Pelosi's War Power Resolution! It's been a federal law since 1973 and the Authorization for use of Military Force violates the War Powers Act. Congress abdicated their responsibility after 911 to the Bush administration and then Obama. Gaetz's vote is correct in principle but this shows Pelosi's House as being bunch of hypocrites just because they don't like Trump or his decisions. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 73340869 United States 01/10/2020 08:55 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ever since Bush Pesidents have gone off and started stuff (committed acts of war) without the necessary Congressional approval. It is a bad precedent and should not be tolerated, CONGRESS....DO YOUR FRICKIN' JOB! It is true that in the case of "imminent harm" the President can act without Congressional approval....and that is the way this supposedly happened. However, Rand Paul disagreed with that conclusion in the briefing....so I'm not sure it really was "imminient." The "rushing" of the embassy seemed "imminent" to me though. But, eliminating the General because if that...yeah could be a reasonable response to an "imminent" threat so I give Trump the benefit of the doubt on this. Still. I agree with Gaetz that you need Congressional approval before you start a war. Bush abused the process, Obama abused the process....I think this is a bad idea no matter which party is in control. It is not the Presidents decision to start a war or not. |

Needing congressional permission to start a war with a new country is not a bad thing... I don’t see how anyone can even think that it is, war costs trillions and we have more or less already bankrupted our country with war. We will eventually have to face the reality of our debt especially once the annual interest is in the multi trillions per year (it’s nearly 1 trillion interest per year now) Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78313749 This is the first good thing Matt has done in a long time. |
