I will NEVER and I do mean NEVER, trust Matt Gaetz again. EVER. He's a snake - I always thought there was something smarmy about him, but at least he defended Trump. After this STAB IN THE BACK, which is exactly what it is, I will NEVER trust him again. This is desperate times, Trump is constantly under attack EVEN FOR KILLING A TERRORIST who has killed and wounded thousands of Americans. To vote for this is to attack Trump and us and is despicable. I can only assume that Gaetz is compromised and I figure at an unmarried 37, that he's a closeted gay. He's gonna turn into Miss Lindsey. I wouldn't trust Mark Meadows either. Anyone who says that giant pile of shit, Elijah Cummings, was a "friend" of his cannot be trusted. I don't have any radical criminals as my friends. Birds of a feather. |

Once someone stabs you in the back, they'll do it again, no matter how glib they are coming up with a reason. He's a smarmy bastard. It's a shame, he put up some good defenses for Trump but he's obviously turned the corner for whatever reason. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78311243 United States 01/10/2020 12:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Ridiculous to side with the Dems on a resolution that will go no where. At a time when unification behind the President is needed in this "coup", he chooses to side with the enemy on something that isn't going to matter anyway. WTF? Ridiculous. Even the damn resolution is poop. Imagine how many Americans would die or terrorists escape if Trump had to wait on Congress to approve any action he would take militarily. Even if he knew this was going nowhere to side with the Dems EVEN ON THE PRINCIPAL of the resolution is alarming! I've read he believes in that stupid global warming bullshit too, so N. Florida would do well to start looking for a good primary opponent to run against him. He appears to be nothing more than a political ladder climber who just wants to get his face in the camera as much as possible. |

Quit parroting the damn media propaganda. This was perfectly legal and justified what the President did. He eliminated a threat to American lives before they had the time to organize their attack. He didn't declare war either. Only congress can do that. Everyone is confusing the fact that DEFENSE is not a declaration of War. CONGRESS ONLY HAS THE POWER TO DECLARE WAR, which is an OFFENSIVE action. They cannot stop DEFENSIVE actions by the President. That is his EXECUTIVE RIGHT. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78311243 United States 01/10/2020 01:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | As a longtime Trump supporter and veteran I absolutely believe that ALL military actions MUST be approved by Congress. There was NO "imminent danger" -- in fact, it appears Soleimani was lured to Baghdad on the premise that peace was going to be discussed. By taking unilateral action Trump is being as awful and unconstitutional as his predecessors! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78330893 Bullcrap. Military belongs to the Executive branch not the Congressional branch. Congress funds them, that is it. They can declare war on a country also, but they really are too chickenshit to do that anymore. They DO NOT AND CANNOT CONTROL THE MILITARY. It's not in their constitutional duties. |

Should Matt Gaetz have voted FOR Pelosi War Power Resolution on Iran? [link to gaetz.house.gov (secure)] Complete idiot. Why fall on a liberal sword that has no chance of changing anything? Obviously... NO. I listened to Matt try to explain his rational today... and it was feeble. Not to mention, unconstitutional... That's what I find odd about Matt voting with the DIMS... Matt has been such an advocate for the laws that govern the executive branch. I really don't think he thought this through too well... and if you go to his twitter page, he caught holy hell from his followers for his position. For me, Matt was a huge letdown with this vote, as I was very high on many of his positions as a Conservative. But siding with the treasonous pigs that didn't give two shit when Bathhouse Barry... droned over 2000 innocent people, assassinated Bin Laden, helped turn Libya into a shithole and install ISIS, overthrew Egypt and installed the Muslim Brotherhood. The Dems are morally bankrupt, and want to do anything in their power to stop President Trump from spoiling their plans to complete destroy this country. First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win. ~ Mahatma Gandhi "Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. Anonymous Coward User ID: 75517763 Ireland 01/11/2020 12:35 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It was a nothing vote and if he was being Constitutional, he made the right call. I doubt he was being political with the reptiles on the left. I think it was only a statement that the president should follow the Constitution, a good thing. This would still have to pass the Senate I believe, it wont so it was just a statement and not against Trump but about all presidents' power that has been unconstitutional for decades. The country must agree in congress to go to war. |

We've had some "problems" with embassies before especially WITH Iran. And they were saying HE was responsible. That's good enough for me. Flame thrower the bastard. Also responsible for the deaths of thousands and maimings of thousands of people, including our troops. FUCK SOLEMEINI and FUCK THE DEMOCRATS and FUCK MATT GAYTZ. Trump, btw, said tonight that the Intel was that 4 of our embassies were being targeted. Now, I don't just believe ANY POTUS or our Intel agencies, but Solimeini WAS in Baghdad and 1 embassy was already attacked. It would not surprise me if others were targeted. The world is better off without this guy. And the Democrats are totally fucked with the insanity of SUPPORTING IRANIAN TERRORISTS. Yeah, that's a vote getter. |

It is a bad precedent and should not be tolerated, CONGRESS....DO YOUR FRICKIN' JOB! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73340869 It is true that in the case of "imminent harm" the President can act without Congressional approval....and that is the way this supposedly happened. However, Rand Paul disagreed with that conclusion in the briefing....so I'm not sure it really was "imminient." The "rushing" of the embassy seemed "imminent" to me though. But, eliminating the General because if that...yeah could be a reasonable response to an "imminent" threat so I give Trump the benefit of the doubt on this. Still. I agree with Gaetz that you need Congressional approval before you start a war. Bush abused the process, Obama abused the process....I think this is a bad idea no matter which party is in control. It is not the Presidents decision to start a war or not. Congress clearly can't be trusted. Not at this point anyway. It's ALL a partisan shit show. Constituents be damned. |
