We don't need war, and Trump doesn't want it, and really what this does is limit the dems. When (and if) the dems get back in office, this will help to stop them.

Just because Trump is popular now doesn't mean congress shouldn't do everything in its power to restrain the executive from unilateral acts of war. Would you have supported the resolution with the Bush's in power, or Clinton wagging the dog with missiles over the Balkans?

As a longtime Trump supporter and veteran I absolutely believe that ALL military actions MUST be approved by Congress. There was NO "imminent danger" -- in fact, it appears Soleimani was lured to Baghdad on the premise that peace was going to be discussed. By taking unilateral action Trump is being as awful and unconstitutional as his predecessors!

Military belongs to the Executive branch not the Congressional branch.

Congress funds them, that is it. They can declare war on a country also, but they really are too chickenshit to do that anymore.

Ever since Bush Pesidents have gone off and started stuff (committed acts of war) without the necessary Congressional approval. It is a bad precedent and should not be tolerated, CONGRESS....DO YOUR FRICKIN' JOB!

It is true that in the case of "imminent harm" the President can act without Congressional approval....and that is the way this supposedly happened. However, Rand Paul disagreed with that conclusion in the briefing....so I'm not sure it really was "imminient." The "rushing" of the embassy seemed "imminent" to me though. But, eliminating the General because if that...yeah could be a reasonable response to an "imminent" threat so I give Trump the benefit of the doubt on this.

Still. I agree with Gaetz that you need Congressional approval before you start a war. Bush abused the process, Obama abused the process....I think this is a bad idea no matter which party is in control. It is not the Presidents decision to start a war or not.
