Part of my family wouldn't eat pork because as evangelicals they went with the old Bible belief - and they also thought it was unhealthy, and the other part couldn't get enough Spam. While I love Spam, bacon, etc., I tend to agree with the old Bible thumpers as pork doesn't agree with me and I don't generally think it's a healthy meat. And I do think it's too close to human meat genetically too.

ALL animals, fish produce hormones when they are in threat of dying, i.e. in fear. If not cleaned asap, the hormone bleeds into the meat. This one of the reasons pole caught fish are most prized, as the long process of fear and dying is minimized; provided, of course, there isn't an extraordinary battle between fisherman and fish. Most fishes that give long battles to survive and escape the line are generally not for eating anyway, i.e. sails, marlins, however, tuna contradicts this but that's why tuna is cleaned asap to lessen hormone tainting.
