Hoping I don't wake up to a sheet of ice. I live out in the country and its difficult to get in and out with ice. When the conditions are like that.....you should stay the fuck home.....just isn't worth it... Certainly will. But asking for advice. What do country folk do to prepare their driveways for ice and snow? |

But asking for advice. What do country folk do to prepare their driveways for ice and snow? You shovel the snow after the storm and use commercial ice melt where you need it. Salt will cause your concrete to crumble. I know, because one of my hired hands used stock salt on the sidewalk in front of his house, and ruined it! deplorably republican |

When the conditions are like that.....you should stay the fuck home.....just isn't worth it... Certainly will. But asking for advice. What do country folk do to prepare their driveways for ice and snow? Generally nothing. Most "driveways" are gravel or dirt and respond well to a tractor with a loader bucket. Any concert apron in front of the garage should be treated with Ice Melt (generally magnesium chloride) after the storm accumulation has been plowed or blown off. Pre-treating with salt can work against you if there is bitter cold coming on top of snow as the lowest layer melts and re-freezes into a sheet of ice...with ...more snow on top...oh joy! |

[link to www.businessinsider.com (secure)] Cities are starting to put beet juice, beer waste, and pickle brine on icy winter roads to cut down on salt. |

I really should do the hummingbird dance and fuck up all of the jeeps, dodges, and fighter jets, since they won't let me have one. For the irony. |
