"Emo" music is the hybridization of punk and country music

This is obvious.

Country music is very "heartfelt".... like... wearing one's emotions on one's sleeve.

It´s pop music with gay costumes.
Don´t see any country in that, but the need for costumes like in punk is correct.

Perhaps emo is the popularization of the hybridization of punk and country.

It's very suburban.

Suburban being the blend of urban and country.

It's uniquely American.

The punk/country hybrid has already been tried before, long before Blink 182 and Jimmy Eat World were household names.

Look up the Meat Puppets. Social Distortion. Jason & The Scorchers. Good shit right there.

Yeah... I would say all alternative rock is probably some kind of combination of country and punk.

I consider it really the "Americanization" of punk music. :)

But I honestly think that emo music best shows the result of the combination of punk and country music :)
