Yeah the fire department fucked up big time .... they failed to secure a control line that would have kept the basket from doing that.
However, the poor hikers attorneys did not fail to sue the city of phoenix fire department for millions of dollars !!
and the lady never wanted to be rescued by helicopter in the first place ... she wanted to be carried out

Interesting what you say regarding the ‘control line’, I remember reading the initial story & the consensus was that this was ‘very unusual & not seen before’, however they would have known this was a failure to apply proper procedure. I feel for the Lady but to sue? No, that’s an abdication of decency, consuming resources that would be there for the rescue of others.
