Re: No Shoes for American feet...and the coming collapse...
You've got to remember that "Made in America" can be slapped on the box, even if most or ALL the parts of the shoe/boot were imported, and even if they're supposed to have a certain percentage of American-made content.

I just checked, and Red Wing and Wolerine still make boots domestically. Quoddoy moccasin makes som mocs on an artisinal basis. Some high-end boots under various labels are made in L.A.

S.A.S is still around, but greatly reduced in size, as is Allen Edmonds.

It is by design.

The Vatican and the British, want to destroy America the same way they destroyed Byzantine, the Russian Empire and the USSR.

By first stretching out, then disrupting the supply line for goods, services and food stuffs.

OH, I have ZERO doubt it's by design.

They should have listened to Senator Joe McCarthy...

Thanks for your comment.

I'm 53 and got they typical "McCarthy is bad" education. That thought eventually occurred to me, that he was a good guy... Probably within the last 10 years. Unfortunately you are the only other person I've ever hear say that. Throw Patton in there for wanting to go to Moscow after the war. I guess the same people that went after McCarthy got Patton and here we are in a mess.

The guy definitely deserves to have airports and bridges named after him. He was the subject of a very well-coordinated leftist smear campaign. Senator Margaret Chase-Smith was the worst of the Rockefeller political gang hired to bring him down.

I have been warning for about 15 years now, that if we went to war with China, there would be no materials for military personnel to get their uniforms from!

I think Danner boots out of Oregon still makes some real nice boots, but not sure if all the materials are from the USA, OP. Also, Whites, and Hoffman boots are handmade in the PNW/USA.

You know what sector has managed to keep a hold of many USA manufacturing jobs?..... UNIONS!

So many talk out of both sides of their mouth... they hate unions, yet cry about the manufacturing exodus

Unions seem to be the only why to battle corporate greed.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72376134

Sadly, many unions were taken over by active (secret) Communists (and Communist fronts) from the 1930s on, and they did little-or-nothing to prevent the mass exodus of American manufacturing jobs, on orders from Moscow and the Comintern.

THE GOAL is world government, and taking out AMERICA is the last step in bringing that about.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77140800

I completely agree! Having been on both sides of the union, first in a small, family run company started by Russian-Jewish immigrants in the early 1940's, the union was fully controlled by the company itself!

And next, in a public works facility that was originally non-union, till we hired some workers from other municipalities that had been union.

Most of the workers that were pro-union only wanted a "comfy-cushion" that would tell them that they didn't have to do the particular job the city was having them do.

I worked for this public works facility as one who was soured by my past experience with unions for 19 years before the union came along, and it had been the best place I ever worked - after the union...not so much - it was now adversarial, and rather unpleasant.

Prior to the union, the city gave us everything - good wages - 3% per year, 5 weeks vacation after 5 yrs.

After the union - fight for EVERYTHING, besides having to pay 2 hours a month dues

I truly believe unions are part of the problem!

Folks..yes, there a few very rare exceptions, but, again, the point is we'd have nowhere near the capacity needed to shoe the population.

I bet we have less than 10% of the boot-making capacity we used to have, less than 1% of the shoe capacity, and almost ZERO athletic shoe capacity.

That was a very length editorial piece, you should go into writing as a career. Seriously thought, needed to be said, you are right the quality of shoes have plummeted.

My mom and I don't even know where to buy shoes anymore, we have high arches, I don't think no one even knows what that means anymore, much less what is leather, good leather???

However, things are starting to become more and more produced in Vietnam, South Korea, many other countries, we don't need China anymore, things have shifted, now they just need to figure out how to make a damn shoe, not that hard.

Re: No Shoes for American feet...and the coming collapse...
This is a great topic. I was speaking heavily on this issue 11yrs ago around a campfire with some YouTube preppers at a camping meetup.

I try to always have extra boots but my summer work boots are all pretty tired. I stacked 4 pairs of old Canadian Made "Kauffman" Sorel winter pack boots. The old ones are far better than the current Chinese made Sorels(Columbia bought Sorel 20yrs ago).

New Balance still make the 990 series shoes in USA. They run $140/pr for disposable sneakers. Danner still makes a few models in USA but they start just shy of $300. Same price as European Made backpacking boots such as Zamberlan, Meindl, Lowa, Hanwag, ect. I like European Made boots better.

The previously mentioned European Made boots can be re soled at a shoe cobbler. I would prefer to buy USA Made but I can't find anything that fits my bum foot. Boots that are resoleable are the next best option. I get a solid 2-3yrs out of the soles beating the $hit out of them doing landscaping and tree work, plus canoeing/camping/hiking in my free time.

LOL..true. Initially, the American traitors insisted that the Chinese made their shoes up to their American factory's former standards. That went away a good 15 years ago now, sadly.

If we do ever go to war with China, you can bet they'll take over Vietnam and the Koreas, early on, and of course, Taiwan and Hong Kong (completely.)

We may be able to still import some shoes from South America, but...

Re: No Shoes for American feet...and the coming collapse...
29 years ago, this month, I got fired as a buyer for one of America's oldest and best-known Shoe Companies--which shall remain nameless for now. I was a 30-year old junior executive moving back to my rural hometown from the New York City suburbs where I'd been in a similar position for a lighting fixture manufacturer the previous four years.

This was during the middle of the "outsourcing craze" and some (very few, actually) were just beginning to see what it really meant--the end of good paying, self-satisfying, dignifying jobs... the end of the real American dream, and the end of the real American economy. I complained about the outsourcing, and complained once too often to greedy, deaf, upper-management ears about what this would do to our company.

They fired me.

Four years late the 124-year old shoe company went out of business. (You can still buy the brand, go to the "outlet stores" and you still know the name, but not one speck of that shoe has anything to do with America, anymore.)

Shoe manufacturing is an incredibly complex business. The designs, the machinery involved, the skilled labor--even the more mundane things like the thread suppliers, leather and dye suppliers, shoe lasts (which many younger American's may have never even heard of, or seen) the right injection molding machines, and the compounds (and the right release agents) to make the soles.

All of that is incredibly complex, and all of it involved knowledgeable people doing their jobs well and RIGHT, all the way up and down the supply chain in order to produce a beautiful, comfortable, long-lasting pair of American shoes.

ALL OF THAT is GONE. And most of it is irreplaceable. All the skilled labor is now dead or beyond retirement age. All of the suppliers are gone, the equipment has all been broken up and sold for scrap metal. The lasts have been landfilled.

Donald Trump, bless his heart, can talk all he wants about bringing manufacturing back to America, but when we finally do go to war with China, you will see how complete the breakdown has been, how truly HORRIBLY RAVAGED our economy had been ravaged, and you will begin to see Americans everywhere--within several years-- with no shoes on their feet, and no way to get any.

Greed for that "cheap third-world wage" led the bosses of my 1990s era to commit the worst kind of treason against the American people--to literally sell out the soul of the American economy (the manufacturing base) to destroy what made America great, and left the citizens with no shoes on their feet.

AND shoes are only one example. In industry after industry--things we import by the container load from a country that hates us-- from machine tooling to television sets, to motorcycles...lighting fixtures...we've lost it, and getting it all back (if we ever do) is going to be tremendously expensive and tremendously difficult--far beyond what most Americans can even imagine.

We can talk all we want about the Saul Alinskys, and George Soros's of the world who are, indeed, trying to ring the last vestiges of decency out of our political system. And, yes, it's important to fight COMMUNISM and to maintain our Constitution any way we still can. But the death blows have already been dealt to our economy--where the rubber meets the road. AND IT WAS AMERICAN EXECUTIVES of the generation before mine that did that to us, WILLINGLY AND often with no real thought or conscience decision to betray.

BUT BETRAYAL IT WAS, and when these huge container ships finally stop coming...and they will...We will all learn the price of neglect...neglecting to hold our leaders accountable the way others in what we used to call "the third world" do.... BY TAKING TO THE STREETS.

We're too comfortable and too fat, and it is going to take those uncomfortable holes in the soles of our feet to finally drive us into action--if it's not too late.

Sadly, though, it is. It took over hundred years for the American shoe industry to get to the amazing place it was at in the early 90s before it all went away, and it will take at least a generation to get it back when the time comes.

That's a lot of cold feet...

This deserves a pin.
