Rome imported wine from North Africa even though wine grows well in Italy .. but it was simply cheaper to pay with (more and more devalued coins containing less and less gold) than run a vineyard in Italy. And the jobless workers got free gibs and games ... did not last forever though. Life is a 100% deadly sexually transmitted disease. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 75985575 and People who work in sweat shops/human factories, for practically nothing, in any kind of comparison, would think you are loopy reminiscing such a thing... This is an example of ignorance and snobbery, looking down your nose at work and operations you know nothing about. American factory jobs were good jobs, people raised families on those wages and the work was worthwhile and meaningful. I am so sick of this prejudice against production work, acting like the only real jobs worth doing are tech jobs, and anyone who doesn't sit at a desk all day is some kind of subhuman. Just admit you don't know where anything you're wearing came from or who made it or the first thing about how it's made. And it's truly wrong to assume that every manufactured product was made by people who are mistreated and exploited. That's just ignorant and disrespectful. THIS ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ X 100,000,000,000,000!!!! Thank you! The prejudice against production work has got to go! It's appalling! It's actually very revealing when people admit straight out that they think work like that is demeaning and beneath them and that only people they look down on should engage in it - pretty racist if you ask me, and "don't get me started". |

Moving all the factories to the least diverse country on earth... China... A billion Han Chinese. It won't be diverse 1000 years from now. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76281250 Personally, I think it was more about leveling the wealth of nations, and racing to the lowest common denominator, so that the 1% of the 1% could/would rule over all the rest of we peasants on the global plantation, with nowhere to run or hide. The chase to take down Virginia gun owners is the obvious next step in this process. America must be disarmed before the global government can be fully declared and ruthlessly implemented. |

The towels they make these days cannot take soap without the soap fading the color so after a few uses you have a towel that looks like a mess. Meanwhile I still have some Cannon Jacquard high low cut pile pink towels from the 1960’s that my mother bought. They can have soap put on them and not fade, and they have been in use in our house for longer than I care to admit. They still look great! So where are the towels like that? I have been trying one brand after another and they all fade or unravel in no time. |

Companies make products with PRE-PLANNED FAILURE LIMITS/TIMES, even, sometimes, if building in the guaranteed failure is MORE expensive than using a quality component that would last and last. IMHO, "planned obsolescence" is criminal and should be outlawed and severely fined whenever discovered. |

UNIONS! Quoting: Anonymous Coward 72376134 So many talk out of both sides of their mouth... they hate unions, yet cry about the manufacturing exodus Unions seem to be the only why to battle corporate greed. Sadly, many unions were taken over by active (secret) Communists (and Communist fronts) from the 1930s on, and they did little-or-nothing to prevent the mass exodus of American manufacturing jobs, on orders from Moscow and the Comintern. THE GOAL is world government, and taking out AMERICA is the last step in bringing that about. |
