A Japanese woman was asked to take a pregnancy test before flying to a US island that has become popular for birth tourism

In November, a 25-year-old Japanese citizen named Midori Nishida was checking in to a flight to Saipan, a US island in the Pacific, where she was going to visit her parents. She wasn't pregnant, and said so on a check-in questionnaire, but airline staff made her take a pregnancy test anyway before she was allowed to board.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Nishida was asked to give permission to an authorized medical provider to conduct a "fit-to-fly" assessment. The form was apparently meant for women who had a body size or shape resembling a pregnant woman.

Nishida told The Journal it was "very humiliating and frustrating" to be escorted to a public restroom where she was handed a strip to urinate on. She did not test positive and was able to board the flight.

The more difficult it is for noncitizens to get in, the better. Those not born in the US have no right to enter the US. You want to visit the US, you do what is asked.

If you're a woman, being pregnant presents an avenue for breaking our immigration laws, so you have to show that you're not intending to break the law, just like anyone else.

Re: A Japanese woman was asked to take a pregnancy test before flying to a US island that has become popular for birth tourism
Many Asian women are coming to those islands in order to give birth. This woman can blame those who came before her, for making it difficult for her now.

And from the article, herein lies the problem:

"Chinese citizens can visit the Northern Marianas without a visa — the only US soil where they can do so — and 575 Chinese tourists gave birth there in 2018, according to The Journal, up from 12 in 2009 .. "

the Marianas know what they need to do to stop the Asian women from coming there just to give birth.

Because 3rd world nationals can’t afford the birthing vacation to produce anchor babies.

This is a big problem that’s been exposed here in Hawaii. Birthing vacations are “technically” legal - fall within a grey area of the law.

No kidding. We seem to have a lockdown on the occasional Japanese anchor baby. We're also really good at catching nail clippers and shampoo in our airports, but not too good at catching the hundreds of thousands of Central American anchor babies or actual threats to airplanes.

The last time I went through a large airport (San Francisco from Japan) they started interrogating me why I was out of the country. Meanwhile, the dude that looks like a stereotypical terrorist, "Welcome to the USA, I hope you enjoy it!".

Most Japanese don’t reallly have an eager desire to live in the US. Many have positive feelings about the place, but they don’t have a sense of desperation to live there, like Guatemalans or Chinese or Cambodians, etc.

i wonder what would happen to the swiss multi-millionaire if he flew to juarez mexico and jumped the border illegally.

would thr leftists skriek and stamp their feet for his immediate US citizenship, and demand he get everything for free?

what if he brought his pregnant wife? would her baby receive instant citienship?

would they be called “dreamers” by the lunatic libocrats?
