Vermont Lawmakers Propose Bill to Legalize Prostitution

The whole place is nuts. Beautiful state, people are bonkers. Grew up there in the 60s, people were conservative till flatlanders from New Jersey came up and took over. Ruined it.

Get a grip nothing is wrong with prostitution well besides the morality of it but that has nothing to do with the law.

The law should only get involved when someone is defrauded or hurt and in the case of prostitution both people get exactly what they wanted so there is no reason for the law to interfere.

Less and less opportunity to corral 72 virgins.

I'm a woman , late 40s and agree. We should be able to do with our bodies what we want..we are adults...drug laws are also bullshit. Govt has no right enforcing morality ,anyway men are just naturally more sexual and have more sexual needs than women...its mother nature...enough of these laws..stay out of citizens private life !!! And no I'm not a hooker...ive been celibate years.

I agree that prostitution should be legal. After all, marriage is.

The problem with "legalizing" prostitution is that it usually comes with a bunch of bullshit, like required condoms, required medical exams, required licenses and taxes, permitted and prohibited conduct, etc. We don't have laws legalizing playing chess, and we don't need laws specifying prostitution activities.

What we need is decriminalization where acts deemed prostitution are simply acceptable and subject to the normal laws of commerce alone. If I want to a girlfriend companion for a week, we should be able to specify the conditions of the arrangement ourselves.

Obviously, laws regarding age of consent and rape remain in effect. They are completely separate issues.

The bill, if passed as written, makes both buying and selling of sex without fraud or coercion legal.

It doesn't affect real crimes such as forced sex and underage sex.

I think it's great! I only wish it was the norm in every state. It's disgusting that I have to engage in an illegal act in order to feel the loving touch of a women.

The touch of a prostitute is anything but loving. You can’t buy love. But people who have never experienced it tend to confuse sexuality with love.

Also It’s equally disgusting that I have to engage in an illegal act just to alter my own consciousness.

I happen to vastly prefer drugs to casual loveless sex, so why should I be persecuted for my recreational preferences, while it’s socially acceptable for men to recreationally fuck each other in the ass or chop off their dicks?

I totally agree with you on drugs. Both sex and drugs are personal choices that can lead to growth, insight, and happiness. Regardless of the reason that a women touches you, she still shares her female energy with you. Loving touch is best, of course. For some of us, no women will touch us without payment, and that's much better than not having access to female intimate touch at all. Others are free to disagree, but that's my experience.
