He will blame Trump.
The Oregon coast is shipwreck alley. The largest sand dunes in N American are on the south/central Oregon coastline. Winter storms are brutal.
Absolutely beautiful beeches there, but cold with very strong rip tides. Apparently, as people get smarter in the digital age, they cannot recognize obvious things such as a rip tide--something I was taught about when I was 5 years old.

Yep, we get tourists and people who've never been here before all the time, who don't realize that you NEVER turn your back on the ocean here, or walk close to the waterline when the surf is huge in the middle of winter. Especially when walking on rocks and outcroppings and jetties.
Thankfully, most of them that make this mistake just get soaked, and maybe beat up a bit, but don't end up like these poor children did.
Doesn't mean you can't go to the beach and enjoy storm watching, but you have to be PRUDENT about how close you walk to the water, because these "Sneaker Waves" happen TOTALLY at random, and can throw a log in the surf at you with a crushing velocity.
Take a look at Shore Acres, about 10 minutes from my house.
