Sai Baba seems quite fat and well fed for a spiritual person.

I bet he had a nice expensive car too.

Nope.

He gave money to poor people.

Poor people gave money to him too.

So he's merely redistributing a bit to keep the scam going.

Re: Man has the ability to materialize objects
Man can do whatever he wants. So long as he understands the technique required to do what ever it is he wants to do. Techniques are just refined knowledge, which can be refined to a significant degree.

Man can materialize things. Whether or not this man could is up for discussion. I do remember reading books which describe that either he or other Hindu gurus like him would manifest ash and other things in large enough quantities as to be believed. If someone is doing such a thing day in day out where ever they reside it would be harder to fake than something like the video.

I believe there have been gurus, rishis, & faquiers who've been able to manifest seemingly supernatural powers (levitation, creation of items out of thin air, etc), but a true Vedic Yogi (Hindu holyman) would never resort to these sorts of public displays. Even if they did, I can't imagine them summoning gold trinkets out of the aether. A butterfly or a flower, yes. But gold necklaces? Just not buying it.

It's not fake, but using demons to alter the physical world isn't new. See also Mandella Effect.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78345113

Demon my ass.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78265860

Get it out of there.

How do you think the magicians around Pharoah were able to perform some sorcery mimicking God's power? Do you think God wants you to be deceived, and run after strange gods and powers and false religions? I bet you don't have a concrete concept of God so you can't really answer that question rightfully. To those who are spiritual and don't know God, God is like play-doh, there's no wrong way, no wrong way to use God, seek power, knowledge, etc. Yet God is personable because he is a person and he set down rules and laws as an absolute stabdard to live by. Most spiritual seekers and new agers don't want to accept that because it's like accepting rules one doesn't have to, hence my comment that true spiritual advancement is moral superiority in that one is able to humble themselves and live according to rules and laws that they don't have to but do out of the love for God, respect for others, and well being for self. And of course the path that leads to true greatness comes the risk of failure and punishment. Beliefs devoid of consequence for not getting it right are irrelevant since it doesn't matter, therefore they doesn't matter. Not just anyone knows that there is a punishment for not getting this right, but those who are given the fear of God are given it by God for their own good.

Re: Man has the ability to materialize objects
I love magic, especially good magic. But all magic is a slight of the hand. and this guru should not be prayed too. Nothing he did was even decent slight of hand.

Look when he rolls his hands as he does repeatedly he's lowering necklaces down his shirt and likely pulling with an invisible string that has all of the necklaces on a string down from his backside as he is wearing a loosely fitted shirt. When he stops rolling his hands he's not only getting the necklace he's breaking it off from the rest of the chain. It's really not that complex and if you practice it enough you can probably give out 10-15 in a row on one string. And while the skeptic in me says that's kinda sad right it is also terrifying to me that this guy has children worshippers.

Re: Man has the ability to materialize objects
De mortuis nihil nisi bene, they say: say nothing but good of the dead. But I think Sathya Sai Baba’s case qualifies for an exception. Too great is the damage that he did to India. His devastating influence on reason and scientific temper caused huge setback to the country. At a time when scientific progress led to great social and economic leaps, and scientific awakening started spreading all over India, Sathya Sai Baba launched a “counter revolution” of superstition, supported by irresponsible politicians and other public figures who should have known better. In my judgment, this is his greatest crime. I succeeded again and again in exposing him publicly as a fraud, as did some other rationalists. But due to his political protectors he was never held responsible for his crimes against public reason. Nor was he ever booked for any other crime he was accused of. Numerous cases of alleged sexual abuse and murder are yet to be investigated, not to mention the financial secrets of his empire.

Exactly

True yogis and spiritual people know very well that siddhis are spiritual traps.

They are materialistic desires that everyone has at some point: "I want to have super powers. I want to be able to levitate. I want to be able to influence people. I want to be able to summon gold".

These powers are basic, almost animalistic. If you spend your life trying to achieve them then you are NOT on the spiritual path, but on the materialistic one.

Same reason so many gurus and cult leader become selfish, evil, crazy. Starting to manipulate their followers into giving them money, having sex with them. Pretending to be god.

There is nothing spiritual in that. It's the most common trap that all spiritual people are aware of.

Sathya Sai Baba is just one of many who fell for this, like Rael, like Sun Myung Moon, and more recently like Donald Trump, who will be pandering to evangelicals despite being the least religious and spiritual president ever.

Yes, it's not like he manifests unusual works of supernatural art or something, it's a name brand ROLEX watch! What a joke for a spiritual person to manifest ROLEX of all things.

I guess God can't create a good enough watch these days and has to copy a man made watch and violate a corporate trademark!

Sorry to say, he’s a magician.
Recall seeing one follower, awaiting the necklace, and it wouldn’t fit his head? Why couldn’t the spiritual leader make it larger instantly?
But, my point is ..obviously there are many followers, and if it gives you peace, so be it. God is not magical. God is real.

That dude is basing his faith not on the words of Jesus, but on Revelation, the fever dreams of a mad prophet about the end of the world.

Again, nothing spiritual in that. Just doom and gloom and calling Jesus a sissy because he doesn't fulfill his power fantasies?
