User ID: 73265267 United States 01/14/2020 06:05 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Wow, that was a bad way of listing that property and then trying to milk the buyer of it who had no control over how they listed it for sale. The guy should be able to keep his place he bought and it listed as residential. Or with the mistake they made, they would need to buy it back from him at the going new appraisal for its updated/remodeled price. That is just too big of sellers mistake and too long before trying to reclaim it as other than they listed it for, that from their own mistake at others/buyers expense. He should get to keep what he bought just as it was sold and listed as, residential property. Quoting: Butch DeFeo Zoning = basic shit to know before buying real estate. The city sold the property as a residence. The property should have been re-zoned to residential before selling it to this guy. There were complaints, he must have a lot of traffic and cars coming and going to this place. He probably AirBNB's it to people for a big monthly haul. Or worse, has big parties there with cars parking all over the neighborhood, annoying all neighbors. The real problem is he is using a residential place as a commercial place, and the neighbors are complaining. The property could be re-zoned to residential by the city, so why won't the city do that? And then they would limit his commercial activity in his residence, because it's affecting his neighborhood. The municipal government is just trying to fleece the guy & confiscate back what they sold him. This violates the Constitutional provision in the Bill of Rights guaranteeing protection from illegal search & "SEIZURE" of one's property. He bought it & renovated it, now they want to steal it. But this is that Marxist shithole Seattle - Communists gonna do what Communists gonna do. You make it, they take it. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76329990 United States 01/14/2020 07:24 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | SEATTLE — Kroon purchased the property from the City of Seattle in a 2012 auction. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77972350 Kroon told KIRO 7 he “thought we had essentially bought a residential property” for $712,000. The Seattle man then spent thousands of dollars on interior remodeling, and for more than three years, his extended family and friends used the firehouse for holidays, celebrations, charity fundraisers, graduation parties and as an office until a Land Use Notice of Violation arrived in July of 2016. According to the City of Seattle's violation letter, a "complaint about this property" had been received. A Housing and Zoning Inspector "investigated" and found "violations of the Seattle Land Use Code." [link to www.kiro7.com (secure)] I would've been hard pressed to not turn it back into a fire house. Immediately, if you catch my drift. Glad things seem to be working out for the owner. |

He is within his legal right of use based on what I saw in the video. The only thing is that I believe he should change the signage. Historical or not, it shouldn't say Firehouse on the front, as this could potentially confuse people. In the event of an emergency, you wouldn't want someone seeking immediate care showing up on his door. That's a bad accident waiting to happen. Other than that, its a residence. |

Hosting it out for receptions and parties. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78344830 Hardly a residence. So basically like a party home. From all descriptions in the news story, it appears that it was a “venue” Rather than a Residence......and This is a pretty clear case of FRAUD by the city of Seattle by listing the property as a Residence if it is being claimed by the city to now not be a Residence. Keep in mind that they also violated The United States Constitution if they entered the property without a warrant or Probable cause to believe a crime was being committed. Remember that tennant apartment that was owned by some hippies a couple years back, kind of a weird commune place that a man and his wife owned let dozens rent in pressured them into not complaining. They didnt follow basic coding and had pallets for stairs. It caught fire and burned up 20 or so people in a flaming inferno and the hippies were all shocked people were mad at him and he wasnt to blame. Codes are for conservatives not liberals kind of thingy. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77172304 Every American should be able to do whatever they want with their property. Zoning should not be a thing. Yeah that worked well in my small town, City council broke their own zoning ordinances to do a favor for a friend and we ended up with a homeless shelter 501c3 grifter operation dead center of the very small town. With in one year we had a drug addict hang herself from the front of a building and tons of homeless piped in who were shooting up in the fucking streets. So with that logic I can take my business put up some mattresses against the wall and turn it into an opium den or firing range and nobody can do fuck all about it. My god do you even understand basic structure or city planning? |
