So UK should not be afraid of a new referendum, right? Unless they know Scotts will vote leave, and refuse them the right of self-determination?

Yeah, fuck you, they are hypocrites and know it
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77708627

Why can some people just no ever get over the fact that they are in a minority and therefore they lost and should just move on? Grow the fuck up and accept that you can't always get your way in life when more people want something you do not.

The Scottish referendum was agreed to be the one and only time they would vote on the issue and that both sides would abide by the results.
 Quoting: keybored

Favoring the UK's hold over Scotts is no different than favoring the EU's hold over UK.

With your logic you are also against Flemish independance

The Flemish support Scottish independance so fuck you you fascist scum
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77708627

I thought Brexit was supposed to be a one time deal too lol,
But it was only if it went the way the “Government” wanted lol
Ultimately they passed it right? How do you really anticipate this effecting the UK in reality?
 Quoting: Patriot_In_Waiting

The May government was trying to keep the UK in the EU and had she not been ousted, I'm sure she would have pushed for as many referendums as it took to change the vote back. It was Boris that said he would deliver what the people voted for and that is why he got an outright majority despite all the crap thrown at him and backstabbing that went on to try and bring him down.

People in the UK (the majority) want their country back and are prepared for all the short-term hardships that that will bring. If that meant doing a deal with the devil ie. labour voters voting conservative (which would be something like black people voting for the ku kux klan in comparison) then they were prepared to risk a few years more of their rule to get the long term result of leaving the EU and standing on their own again.

Most people don't know that the UK twice voted not to join the common market (the original European vote) because they knew it would not be just a common market, which most people were not opposed to, but would become the bureaucratic and undemocratic monster that it is today. They were right and that's why they want out.

They had an independence vote 5 years ago and they voted to stay in the UK.

The SNP are a bunch of whinging haters who think they are better off outside the UK but inside the EU. They do about 70% of their trade with the rest of the UK, so you can see the flaw in their argument...

The SNP don't want independence, they don't want to leave the EU!

Breaking now.

PM Boris Johnson has rejected SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon’s request for a second Scottish independence referendum, claiming it “would continue the political stagnation that Scotland has seen for the last decade."

Sturgeon - the first minister of Scotland - is on record as saying that she wants to hold a second referendum later this year, believing that she has a mandate following the 2019 general election that saw her party win 48 of the 59 seats in Scotland.

However, in a letter to Sturgeon, published on social media on Tuesday, Johnson contended that she and her predecessor promised that the 2014 independence referendum would be a “once in a generation vote.”

Fuck all I imagine.

Anyway, the Scots are subsidised by the English. Without that subsidy they'd be in recession. Most Scots know this, which is why they rejected the first referendum.

yep

tbh it's a win win for the snp

they don't have a referendum to distract them
they do have to knuckle down and get on with brexit

no one in Scotland will thank them for pulling a corbyn and obstructing everything they can because they can- because they can't really- not with the tory majority as it is

so , they get to blame the tories for another 5 years while fudging minimal accountability for themselves - something they like very much and are good at

and this act of 'imposition' from Whitehall was exactly what started the small minority 'snp ' back in the day (70's)

and now they run Scottish parliament, Scottish councils and have a healthy 50+ mp's in Westminster and have permanently ended the 2 party system north of the border

I thank thatcher for single handedly catapulting Scottish independence into the mainstream from that small minority

and this kind of stunt just does the same for the next generation of Scottish voters

it-Scottish independence - will come

it will be right for both Scotland and the rest of the uk when it comes

but it isn't right now

we are stronger together for the next few years and that's how it's going to have to roll :)

The Scots had s vote in 2014 on independence - they voted by 55 to 45 to stay in the UK. Now because the SNP can't accept referendum results they want to vote again.

What about the rights of people in England and Wales to not be endlessly disrupted by Scotland or more correctly one political party there - which has much higher spending per head than either paid for by the English and Welsh taxpayer!

I admit that my take on matters is filtered through a conservative/rightist prism.

I also admit that if the EU in Brussels were a strongly right-leaning, ethical, practical, rational, logical, non-power-hungry entity, I wouldn't have a big problem with any sane, humane nation remaining a part of it. But when I see the EU's heavy-handed overreach and it sticking its big, fat nose into non-economic matters - or getting involved in Big Nanny liberalism/leftism - that's a whole different matter

So there you go, agreed and signed by both the Scottish and UK government.
So one way or another Scotland will have it's referendum and there are already plans underway to do it with out Boris Johnsons permission and as it has been agreed that the choice is up to the Scottish people it will be legal.
