Dave Hodges has the lowdown.

Kansas & Nebraska Legislatures Secretly Briefed by DHS

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78334347

I saw that and found it interesting. Couldn't find anything that supported the Nebraska side of the story though so I marked it doubtful in my book.

He's been on a tear of late of a lot of different videos.

Even if it is nothing, it still sets a suspicious tone. If cybersecurity is such a big issue, why didn't Governor Kelly make it part of her State of the State speech last night? I pulled up the text and searched for cyber and security, neither one kicked back a result. (I wasn't able to watch it live because I was getting things cleaned up from the ice storm in prep for the next)

The State Senate has their appointment today so we'll see what gets filed as far as bills in the next week or so.

Dave just uploaded a follow up report addressing the MSM cover story. I can't believe this thread is unpinned, it is the most important story in America.

Glad to see this thread got some traction, but hoping this can get pinned again, this needs more eyes on it.

Stay vigilant, especially others in Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska. Weird things are afoot

DH has rushed out in an attempt to own this story. In doing so he’s gone off the Deep End linking together previous failed “intelligence”. All as reasoning to promote his doomsday prep.

The line that gets me is that he’s selling advertising to himself even though he has sponsors beating down his door, because he wants to save us from the Russians nuking deep underground faults that will trigger Cascadia.

Obviously, something is up with the lawmakers meetingp DHS. I wish he would have spent his time digging more into it - but instead he chose to weave the story into a tall tale.

A Kansas City area radio station can broadcast Russian state-owned media programming, the type that U.S. intelligence called a “propaganda machine,” for six hours a day through a lease agreement struck by a local radio operator.

RM Broadcasting LLC, a Florida-based company that has agreements to broadcast the Russian state media program Radio Sputnik, reached a deal on Jan. 1 to lease air time through Alpine Broadcasting Corp. in Liberty. Alpine Broadcasting Corp. broadcasts on three frequencies in the Kansas City area: KCXL 1140 AM, 102.9 FM and 104.7 FM....

...
Radio Sputnik, according to a Foreign Registration Act filing, broadcasts in capital cities in China, France, Germany, Egypt and the United Kingdom.

RM Broadcasting buys air time for Radio Sputnik only in Washington D.C. and Kansas City. RM Broadcasting’s filing regarding KCXL indicates RM Broadcasting is being paid a $324,000 service fee from Rossiya Segodnya to transmit shows in Kansas City....

Wichita is NOT Andover or Bel Aire [BTW: I was an Andover Trojan back in the 60's when there was only one paved road in the entire town. Four of my pics might still be hanging in the high school in those big clunky frames that held shots of past students going back to the 1930's], and I noticed you are basing your Bel Aire comment on a third-party and not on your own, personal observations.

Sam's is a place I wouldn't shop if you paid me to do so but it has nothing to do with their clientele; and unless you're sitting outside that store clocking customers you have no idea what comprises their retail demographic.

Likewise for the horrors you witnessed at the Wichita Soc-Sec office; on any given day you will find large families applying for assistance just as you were doing, but to suggest one ethnicity dominates all others is patently absurd. FYI: I too have been to that office [I'm 67] and it's not located on "NE 39th St" as you claim - it's in the 3200 block of N. Cypress. Overall I considered the people behind the counters to be more scary than those in the lobby chairs!

Nice try pushing your agenda, but it won't fly in my airspace.

Speaking of airspace, for the past 25 years I've lived 1/4 mile from the McConnell AFB gates. And four days ago, two big-assed military choppers came racketing in from the West for a landing. Choppers like that are extremely RARE around McConnell and usually indicate some serious Brass coming/going. Then, yesterday there was ALOT of heavy takeoff activity on those runways, lasting intermittantly for over two hours. Probably just a drill or a similar event, but still it was noticable as being fairly rare... if not a little bit coincidental given the topic of this thread.

We've had some odd aircraft around here as well. Usually it is the spring/summer months that Ft. Riley does their training missions, so it isn't unusual to see them running around. You can even hear the artillery/tank training exercises too which is pretty impressive at almost 50 miles away depending on where you are. I have heard them firing some over the last week or so, but nothing in the paper about it. Usually they give notice so Manhattanites don't have to change their undies too often at the sounds they make.

That said, I have noticed/heard several low-flying helicopters over recent days. One was following the river, so I wrote it off as checking the river for any damage, debris, or dangers given it's just gotten back to "normal" after draining Tuttle back to pool. Others have been low and heading from east to west, roughly on track to either Manhattan or Ft. Riley. Right now my running assumption is there is a lot of activity for the Corps of Engineers in this vein. I know assumptions are the mother of f-up's, but without other evidence...I assume it's mundane.

Last night about 10:00 or a little after I was outside and saw a low flying jet coming from the north (maybe...10 degrees east of North or so). It was too dark to make out the type (darnit) but the engine sounds were distinctive and they were with running lights on.

The only thing that could explain that is if the Manhattan airport delayed takeoff of their 9:30pm flight to Dallas, but I was under the impression it was an arrival not a take off.

Feel like I'm necro'ing this thread but something just came across the ol' news feed that is an interesting tie-in. Mainly pulled the jist of it in case people didn't want to go to the link.

Governor Kelly appoints Adjutant General

[link to www.wibw.com (secure)]

Governor Laura Kelly today appointed David A. Weishaar as Adjutant General, to replace General Lee Tafanelli.

Weishaar will succeed Tafanelli, who is scheduled to resign as Adjutant General on March 31, 2020.

Tafanelli was the one who gave the report to the State House reps back when they had their meeting. Don't think the two are related but it is an interesting wrinkle.

Edited to add something else I found.

If we had some indication Oklahoma's legislature was given a similar meeting as Kansas, then I'd say it was plausible. Without that evidence though I just can't keep it on the list for now.

Right now my short list of scenarios include:

-Cybersecurity (could be the legit reason just under weird efforts)

-NBAF security update/emergency activation. Maybe NBAF is needed to address a new virus as it was seen to be a bioweapon, and work will need to be rushed to get it done. Meeting was prep work for press/public interaction and if any effort is needed on their end. Could also have been the mundane update on how and when they expect viruses to start being shipped through

- Terrorism- Unlikely but not impossible. Wichita and Kansas City have FBI id'd cells for Islamic terrorist groups. Could also be a domestic threat.

- Related to the drones and their mission in Colorado/Western Kansas. That is it's own topic and rabbit hole as to what's involved.

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 76699577

"Deputy Attorney General Jay Scott Emler, a former state Senate majority leader, said in a letter Tuesday to the Kansas House speaker that the briefings should be given in closed party caucuses, which are allowed under the state’s open meetings law."

So sounds like this was a necessary legal maneuver to appropriate these meetings as "party" meetings instead of meetings with the Kansas legislature? Probably the only way they could get it to be held off-site?

Definitely bizarre. I don't recall anything like this ever happening before.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77844123

" Probably the only way they could get it to be held off-site?"

As an outsider this makes sense. Theycan eliminate state required minutes, transcriptions; unnecessary personnel. and hold the meeting in a Fed Govt. secured room.

But I agree this is worrisome. Not that it'll do any good to worry.
