Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77950786 United States 01/15/2020 12:15 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I don’t mind lions and bears around. I am way out in the mountains of Colorado. I feel like they have as much right to be here, or more, than I do. That said, this was very close to my front door. I think it was just using the road I plowed to travel. The snow is soft and deep and any packed track sure makes travel much easier. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 75708546 United States 01/15/2020 12:16 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It could be stalking you, watching you from afar - that's what cats do. It could be on your roof waiting for you to come out. Cats like high places. My ex boyfriend always told me to watch out for the cats in Montana. They'll hide in trees 30 -40 feet up and jump down on you. That's how we'd go for our daily hikes - looking up into the trees up ahead for cats. You'll want to go out and follow the tracks to see where the cat's pounce spots are. Also go up on your roof to see if he's been up there. When you go outside wear a backpack - they'll go for your neck. The back of your neck. We always had 2 big dogs to pee around so animals would think it was a wolf pack and go elsewhere. It kept the bears away. A cat attacked the neighbor's huge mule, cost him a fortune to get it stitched up. Another neighbor had 1 dog and that wasn't enough to keep the bears and the cat away. The cat didn't come by our house but it could be because it had food elsewhere. I'd really watch the roof, especially if it can access a warm spot up there. That's where you'll find cats. Up high where they can survey the view. |

I lived in country side NW Alberta these beasts used to eat my dogs. It's an silent hunter ambush predator ,it's going to jump to your neck from trees above, especially be careful during winter, they need more food/energy. Any predators feeding on deer attack humans if hungry or threatened. |

Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77950786 United States 01/15/2020 12:23 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | First thing I did was check the roof. No sign of it up there. Always packing. This was right out by my truck. Just one set of track moving through. I plowed deep snow all the way to my cabin mid day yesterday. Snowed a little after. These tracks were fresh. It came right up my plowed road and then continued on into the big rocks and mountain behind my cabin. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 78346645 United States 01/15/2020 12:25 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Small animals? It's a fucking mountain lion! They kill and eat bull elk for FFS! Nonsense unless they're too sick to stand. Cougar hate having to work for their food. I have bobcats the size of rottweilers coming right up to our house and look in the windows. They aren't scared of shit either and they will eat small animals but a mountain lion weighing a couple hundred pounds will kill big game idiot. Do some research before posting so you don't look so idiotic. |
