Quoting: Anonymous Coward 33946888 :9teen: You have no idea just how nosey American cities can be, so I've no problem with banning leaf blowers. I only use a blower once a year to blow the leaves into the woods. I have two large bushel bags on my riding mower used to collect leaves and grass while mowing. The deer then come raid the pile of leaves and grass stacked in the woods to eat during the winter. Blowers are noisy though. My neighbors have a mower service and every Thursday there are 3-4 workers mowing and blowing for hours. They get rid of blowers and one of those workers will get laid off. |

All the power saving appliance and LED lighting lowered electricity usage. They need to create more demand. Electric powered everything. When you are afraid of losing your life, you have already lost your life. Don't be afraid. |
Anonymous Coward (OP) User ID: 77648897 United States 09/27/2020 07:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | well, if California can make this happen, all the rest of the country will soon be forced to follow California's lead and ban all gas powered lawn equipment. The good thing is this will GREATLY hurt China. More and more of America's gas powered lawn equipment is made in China, and now that Briggs & Stratton (who started making their engines in China 10 years ago) filed for bankruptcy 2 months ago, soon most all of Americas gas powered lawn equipment will be made in China. By outlawing all this equipment, California could be instrumental in helping to destroy the Chinese economy! THANKS CALIFORNIA LIBTARDS!!! YOU'RE OK!!! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 75708546 United States 09/27/2020 07:56 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | California’s latest pollution push: Banning gas-powered mowers and blowers Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77648897 The next frontier in California’s battle against pollution: lawn equipment. State air regulators are laying long-term plans to phase out gasoline-powered devices like leaf blowers and lawn mowers, saying they can produce more noxious emissions than cars. Plenty of Bay Area cities are already acting: At least eight have banned gas-powered blowers, and more restrict their use during times of day or up to a certain noise level. Novato may soon join the list. “What I think we need to realize is that we have to do something different for climate change in the world,” said Novato Mayor Pro Tem Pat Eklund, who proposed a ban on gas lawn mowers and leaf blowers in December. “If not, we are going to see a different world than we do today. Every little bit is going to help.” Such restrictions force people to use cleaner, quieter electric machinery instead. [link to www.sfchronicle.com (secure)] moron. India, China and Africa are producing 1 entire USA population every 3.5 years. "every little bit" will mean even less than jack shit. . Wow, what a coincidence that they're fixing to fight. Sorry off topic OP |

Electric are fine for very small yards, but when you get into a couple of acres or more you need the gas ones. If it's just a noise thing, many HMOs already have rules about the times and days you can use them. We can't use them on weekends. I'm in Georgia. |
