MANILA, Philippines — The water in the main crater lake of Taal Volcano has drained away, three days after the volcano exploded to life, state volcanologists said.

In a bulletin issued Wednesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said satellite images show that the volcano’s main crater lake—once blue-green in color—has been drained.

Taal’s main crater lake is 1.9 kilometers in diameter and four meters above sea level.

Ma. Antonia Bornas, chief of Phivolcs volcano monitoring division, explained the draining of the main crater lake is related to ground deformation, which is caused by the upward movement of magma. Magma is molten rock beneath Earth’s surface.

Phivolcs also observed that portions of Pansipit River—drainage outlet of Taal Lake—have also dried up.

Taal is or can be a resting (active now) supervolcano. I would be very concerned of the ground movement and cracks at the moment. Taals eruption in the 1960 made ground go down and now everything goes upwards..all tards calls this THE deep breath

A resource I know at the USGS let me know they are seeing active deformation occurring all over the Taal Caldera, and that if it continues it is likely to be a VEI6+ eruption.

I have been volunteering with the PDRRMO/NDRRMC (local and national disaster response teams) helping to setup their mobile command centers.

Mt. Taal is not even close to the destructive power of Mt. Pinatubo that erupted in 1990. When Mt. Pinatubo erupted in 1991, it was rated as a VEI-6 eruption. This is over 10x the destructive power of the VEI-5 eruption of Mt. St. Helens in 1980.

Mt. Taal could only produce at most a VEI-3 eruption. It's destructive potential is due to it's proximity to Metro Manila. It's about 30 mi (52 km) south of Metro Manila. Depending upon the wind speed and direction, it's possible to cover much of Metro Manila with volcanic ash.

Not trying to be a fear monger, but, the antipode to Taal is Puerto Rico where they’ve been having an unprecedented number of quakes within 24 hr periods called swarms. In addition the whole Kansas thing with DHS and a very secretive briefing where the Representatives are being bused to base for briefing in groups, WTF do they know that we don’t.

Is TAAL going to blow like a warhead causing Puerto Rico to experience a 9-10+ quake that could trigger a Tsunami because the east coast trench ruptures thus taking out Florida, southern Ga and all the coastal communities on East Coast?

Sure has me thinking, I’m in Georgia at 1200ft sea level. I’m definitely concerned, especially with the secretive stuff going on in Kansas.

Call me whatever, but it’s better to know things and desensitize yourself so if anything really does happen, you don’t just stand in fear like a deer in headlights. When you are desensitized you automatically move to your next steps, and I’m a next steps type of Gal.
