Isnt that the first sign of the supposed "planet x" approaching. They said the gravitational disturbances would cause volcanic activity along with unusual weather patterns.

Not yet sure. I'm just next to Metro Manila and we had sulfuric air and thickish ashfall when the ash expulsion occurred. Ready to evacuate though if the need arises.

Live update/press briefing from Phivolcs. They are saying the threat is still very real. They could increase the scope of the danger zone but have not yet done so because they are still trying to ascertain exactly what is going on (why the lull, etc). Also explaining there could be deadly gas that is undectable (no smell) but would suffocate you.

Also saying you could not outrun the base surge because it is just slightly less than supersonic. They are interpreting the signs -- the earthquakes, the cracks, the evaporation of the river/lake water as signalling the rising of magma, and are saying a major explosion could occur anytime. Still ongoing at the moment,

No VEI-6 level eruptions have ever occurred in written or oral history with Mt. Taal. There was a VEI-4 event in the 18th century. In the 20th century, it erupted in 1911 causing thousands of deaths. Its last eruption was in 1977 and resulted in hundreds of deaths.

I get my information directly from the DOST-PHILVOCS scientists during the PDRRMO/NDRRMC briefings at the mobile command center. I was there until 10 PM last night along with the local and national agency personnel via video conference who are coordinating relief efforts.

Some of you should look better at eruption history. Do you think a VEI 4 produces a 20 km wide caldera? No major eruption of taal occurred in modern times. Last major eruption was 5000 years ago and catastrophic eruption which created caldera took place 500 000 and 100 000 years ago.
Probability of such eruption is probably 1 in 1000s but it definitely exists. No reason to be worried though.

It's still a theory and not a confirmed fact. It could also be an impact crater. So far geologists haven't found any physical evidence it has ever erupted.

They're saying they are not yet certain at this point either way. They said they have gaps in their data, so they can't say for certain. ARgh.

Typhoons present a bigger threat to Philippines. They had two strong back to back typhoons pass through same region within a week of each other. Lookup Typhoon Tisoy (Kammuri) and Typhoon Ursula (Phanfone). They caused more loss of life and destruction than Mt. Taal volcano has so far.

First, I'm a US expat living in the Philippines. If I believed there was an eminent threat to my family, we'd evacuate.

In regards to disasters and the Philippines, they have typhoons, earthquakes and volcanoes. The last two in December (Typhon Tisoy and Ursula) caused more death and damages than Mt. Taal eruption.

The local and national disaster agencies have dramatically improved their procedures and performance since Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013.

It isn't another Mt. Pinatubo event. The biggest threat would be an 7+ EQ along the "valley fault" that runs underneath Metro Manila.

Where are you going to relocate 11 million people based upon fake news (OP) and rumors?

Might as well relocate the entire West Coast of the US because the big one is going to happen!

Also need to evacuate the entire continent of Australia because of wildfires will kill everyone!

I was at the 8 PM briefing last night at the PDRRMO mobile command center. That's a generalized summary for press release. Yeah, eruptions will continue to spew ash and lava. No Mt. Pinatubo level event though.

As I said, instead of spreading fear and fake news, do something helpful for the people effected by the disaster.
