Let's see....worst covid outbreak currently in the world, people not distancing and safeguarding to begin with, possible evacuations of coastal areas and inland flood areas forthcoming, evacuation shelters get set up, days or weeks of significant population zones with power outages and scorching temps and humidity.....do the math!

Maybe the COVID will blow all over the rest of the state...ya know, airborne!

Will be bringing in my tomato plants on Friday....(I actually have them in my tower garden!), and have a scheduled top off of the 1,000 gallon propane tank for my whole home generator on Saturday morning (at 70% now anyway).

But hey....it IS 2020!

I don't even estimate natural immunity to be that high. We can learn a lot from the prison outbreaks... there are prisons where 50-60% of the population has been infected in a short time.

That would seem to set the upper limit, although there are certainly demographic differences between a prison and the general public.

I think when you get to that 28% infected in a population, the rest of the decline is caused by the fact that a certain portion of the population just doesn't get out that much even during normal times, therefore is unlikely to be exposed. As I call it... the "Social Immunity" theory.

I remember us talking about a 20% death rate if you end up in the hospital back when this was a Chinese-only virus.

I agree. I've been estimating "social immunity" at about 12% for normal circumstances. Social distancing/lockdown measures drive this number artificially higher, but I haven't tried to venture a guess as to what that number would be.

I think the latest surge of the last month was driven by people celebrating holidays, attempting normal summer activities, the protests.

I suppose the next bump might be around Labor Day and then look put for the Thanksgiving/Christmas season. I guarantee every family will still be gathering together in some capacity. Traditions are hard to break and people crave some semblance of normalcy.

Just wait for the Fall headlines "Super Spreader infects entire family gathered for Thanksgiving Dinner."

So I've been taking my temperature twice a day pretty much ever since thing whole thing started as I've been fearful this whole time that should I become infected I could spread it around to a ton of power plants in a short time... which would be bad.

I forgot this morning, but I keep a thermometer in the backpack I carry around with me... so I figured I better check. As I've done many times before, put it under my tounge expecting a chilly 97.7 per usual... but no.

I rushed to pack up my tools, figuring I better boogie offsite as soon as possible as I'm at a plant today... that oddly enough doesn't do temperature checks.

Once I packed everything up, I thought I should probably check again. I powered on the thermometer, but got distracted for a second when my phone rang. Suddenly the thermometer started beeping crazily... 109.5

It was hot from sitting in my truck. Real temperature after giving it more time - 97.9

Ooof, talk about being overheated! Wordsie is so hot it makes thermometers melt! :D (Or he could use some more coffee)
