Yes I posted about that yesterday. SSTs extremely warm off the east coast very favorable for rapid intensification.

When I said that it was just a tropical storm overnight it has strengthened to a hurricane 36 hours before the models predicted.

It is significant for this thread because it is headed for COVID hotzones. Evacuations and shelters are going to make COVID surge in areas where it is already pretty hot.

Looking at the potential to impact the entire eastern coast of the US possibly strengthening to a Cat 3 at some point.

East coast GLP prep now- shelves were already bare due to COVID now add to it the chaos of hurricane panic buying.

Florida- 24 hours away
South Carolina- 48 hours
Virginia- 72 hours
New England- 96 hours

I don't think the hurricane itself is anything worse than has happened in these areas in the last 5 years, but the fabric of society is already fraying, people already on edge, economic assistance already spent, supply chains already stressed.

Now add this to the mix.

This morning's info is landfall in FL appears more likely now. Maybe even a little stall on FL too. Now just to wait and hope it doesn't intensify too much before then.

Not yet...Last night thinking was more off the FL coast....early this AM, things seem to be moving closer to the FL coast, issue of how close and how far south. The Hurricane center does not release MEGA info at night when peeps are sleeping...they will most likely trickle some out at 8am, then major update at 11am.

Surge guidance has not been released at this time. Weird situation because the hurricane is still in the development stage but it is moving twice as fast as typical which has compressed the arrival times. Models are all over the place. This is one of those storms that you won't really know what you're going to get until a few hours before it happens.

Current wave heights being detected in the ocean near the Bahamas are 15-24 feet at this time.

Surge is mainly driven by storm pressure which is high at this time as the storm is still developing. Rapid intensification would drive the pressure down quickly in which case expected surge would rapidly change.

Covid in the bloodstream isn't apparently a problem. (Although T cells are there, and I am not sure it can't replicate inside T cells.)

The known problem is it getting into ACE2 cells which are accessed thru the respiratory system.

To be fair, he wasn't really PM material in the first place, having a new born and still not fully recovered from the virus illness have taken it's toll, I agree, it would be wise for him to step down.

What they said is that it is believed that children are much less affected by the symptoms of Covid-19. This doesn't imply that the viral load must also be high.


Adults clearly have more severe symptoms with higher viral load, but children might actually have much higher viral loads then adults, but still have minor or no symptoms.



What is certain is that the little buggers are freakkin' highly contagious, and that is because they can dish out a massive viral load, without having symptoms at all.

Memphis sounds great, never been there, but by that description, think I'll add it to my to-do list!

And that lack of symptoms is more worrying....until we have those long term full exam studies, we don’t know the extent of the damage.

It's pretty fair to say the job that Mr Johnson pined for for so long has turned into his worst nightmare.

He's a fair weather PM. When it was all about getting Brexit done he was in his element. But add in something so unpredictable as an out of control virus he is lost.

Whether he'll take one for the team.. i doubt he has the awareness for it. I can't see the new MPs voted in in December turning on him any time soon.
