I just looked and Amazon had plenty of canners listed, most are the cheap knock offs.New canners probably don't know to either get the All American Canner or if you can't afford it the Presto canner,but there is no shortage of them. This is a supply side issue not a demand issue like is what is being told. I don't think they can keep up with normal demand. Unless preppers are stockpiling the shit out of them when they see them. Thanks, but I don’t want an AA canner and Amazon has no presto pressure canners available for sale now. Lots of pressure cookers and knock offs I wouldn’t trust, though. Anyone new to canning who bought a Presto pressure canner should buy a Presto pressure regulator now while they are still available. They are $22. That is the only extra Part you need to make the Presto work as well as an AA. |

There are no lids to be found it seems in my area and my friends can't get their normal canning done like they do every year. I was always a little to nervous about using reusable lids. From what I've read they are more finicky so to speak than a regular one time lid for a good seal. The original ones work the best - before they switched to the Chinese manufacturer. They are surprisingly ingenious. I put them under my binocular microscope to figure out what was going on. There is a very fine line in them spiraling out from the center, like in old records, that when they get up to pressure can expand due to the thinner and thicker lid wall. Once the lidded jars have cooled the lids go almost perfectly flat again. Under the microscope the Chinese version was done less skillfully and although it looked superficially “close enough” I doubt that whoever invented it was in charge of the new manufacturer - probably turning over in his grave seeing what happened. At least that’s what I imagined when I put the new ones under the microscope. |

It’s the metal parts that are probably the worst of the problem. I don’t bother with any jars under a quart and it’s hard to shop them from home because of high shipping costs. I’ve been lucky to find some from grocery home delivery but only the originals and only once. The wide mouth beginner jars are always out. I got my jars and lids from uline.com Prices are up, but they are available for delivery. |

Our 7 day average of deaths hasn't been that high since May 18th... during the second wave it's never been above 1,200 and is currently trending down in the 900's range. There's only 13 states with R numbers above 1 right now, and most of them are small. Even if New England has a massive second wave in that timespan, I still don't see it getting that high. Spain's second wave started pretty much July 1st, and only 600 people have died since then out of 180k cases in that time period. |

ULINE.COM, pricing is better on higher quantities but since I was getting other things shipped from them the cost of the jars and lids of the 36 I bought was maybe $2.00 more than it would have been from Amazon with prime free shipping. I bought spices and sugar in bulk and am using them for storing those. ULINE has those packets of moisture absorent stuff in huge and tiny sizes, that's how I also fo3out they sell canning jars and other long term food grade storage containers. Working on it |
