I also wish there were more discussion of long term disability with COVID - people might be a bit less cavalier about being exposed to it if they had the whole picture.. I'm well familiar with this dynamic, though ... for decades, "experts" (most infamously the IDSA) have been insisting that Lyme disease is hard to catch, easy to cure, and rarely causes long-term problems. The millions of us who have been living with the reality know that is all a bunch of lies. Similar dynamics have happened around CFIDS, fibromyalgia, and Gulf War Illness, as well as other poorly defined multi-system conditions.

It was actually my research around Lyme that really turned me into a conspiracy theorist ... the official narrative, and the reality, are so far apart ... and there is a very concerted effort to make Lyme patients (and our doctors) look crazy. The politics almost make the disease look mild by comparison. It was honestly hard to believe such a thing was happening in plain sight... but it is, and TPTB are still getting away with it, to a large degree. Some of it is profiteering by a handful of doctors who have patent and vaccine interests ... but I also think Lyme has a dark history of being modified to be so disabling, and that a good deal of the disinfo is a straight cover-up. Some very esteemed scientists agree with me on this (The book Bitten, by Stanford science writer Kris Newby, lays this out in detail. )

I wonder what TPTB plan to do with all the long-haulers .... are they planning to launch a similar campaign to discredit them and make them all appear to be hysterical? Is there even a plan, at this point?

Dyin', you're right -- living with a disabling illness is almost worse than dying in a lot of cases. I've been fortunate enough to still be able to function, but regular life really takes a lot more effort than it should.

What about those of us who don't think this is a hoax, I don't think Bill Gates and 5g are plotting to kill the world, I don't think there isn't a virus and I don't think it's just another flu but I have looked at the numbers and what's out there and I can't say I'm down the rabbit hole with the its gona kill us all crew.

Further, no evidence for the type I interferon responses was detected. We demonstrate that neuronal infection can be prevented either by blocking ACE2 with antibodies or by administering cerebrospinal fluid from a COVID-19 patient. Finally, using mice overexpressing human ACE2, we demonstrate in vivo that SARS-CoV-2 neuroinvasion, but not respiratory infection, is associated with mortality. These results provide evidence for the neuroinvasive capacity of SARS-CoV2, and an unexpected consequence of direct infection of neurons by SARS-CoV2.

There is so much duh in this statement. It is a longterm, most likely permanently life altering time period. And as we have seen adults acting out....I can’t even fathom the children of said adults.

Summarizer -- thank you for all the great articles. Really helpful compilation. I have read a number of articles about how much damage SARS-Cov-2 does to the heart ... one of the major studies was brought under scrutiny and was corrected, but it actually didn't change the overall findings very much. It was sloppy science (you know it's sloppy when a top tier journal publishes something that is then spotted as incorrect by a journalist!) Still, the general consensus is that it does a real number on the heart in particular, as well as causing major problems in other organs, largely due to the vascular nature of the disease. Also, a number of studies are pointing out the extent of CNS involvement.

I don't know what to make of these data -- there seem to be a lot of contradictions in what we are seeing and reading. If Texas is as back-logged as it appears, that accounts for some of the overall case decline. I don't know about CA ... we've had our share of reporting problems, but I'd love to think we've peaked (for now) and infections are on the way down. I rather doubt it, though ... a lot of people here have been much more concerned about fire this past week or two than we have about COVID, and I suspect people just haven't been getting tested. A lot of people had to evacuate, and thus stayed with friends, or in hotels (they tried to avoid using shelters) -- but I suspect that will also increase spread.

I do know that my little city (it's not that little -- almost 80 thousand people) is actually showing an increase in new cases, and in the rate of new cases, though we're still doing a lot better than the rest of the Bay Area.

Frankly, with all the back and forth regarding how things are reported, and to whom, it casts a lot of doubt on all the numbers.
