Nah the pledge was announced prior. The halting of the trail is not related. The halting of the vaccine trail is vague, "adverse effect" can be a whole plethora of things. What confuses me even more is the following statement:

'A second individual familiar with the matter, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said the finding is having an impact on other AstraZeneca vaccine trials underway — as well as on the clinical trials being conducted by other vaccine manufacturers.

Once again this open to interpretation but it I wonder if they mean other distinct vaccine's that have been in development or just trails for the current vaccine? And the other clinical trails? Are they using the same underlying vaccination strategy? Are they all covid vaccine's?

All in the story is vague but it makes it even less likely that there will be anything done anytime soon.

That would be a negative efficacy result. Quite early to get one but not a reason to halt the trail. This specific vaccine should not be able to give you covid, it's only genetic similarity to SarS-CoV-2 is the spike protein it's build to induce a immune response against. It's fundamental design is not that different from the Russian vaccine, which makes me worry about the specific wording in the article.

As desperation grows..I won’t be surprised if there are radical new “ideas” to just skip trials altogether.

Not so much skip. The logical fast track approach is to just simply go ahead with challenge trails. At this point getting volunteers should still be easy but it's ethically questionable.

With challenge trails you can speed up phase 3 by quite a bit.

Don’t know if a phase 3 is possible with all the lab monkeys in China. Doubt they will be letting go of those any sooner than they let go of the US companie’s PPE.

economy is hit for 10yrs and that was before the riots. by the time the economy can recover AI will b replacing workers. hence no new factories are being built. not enuf to replace CHINA. we might see some for medical supplies and meds,etc. stuff to sustain life. no TV,comp,toys,tools, or apliances. until we make our opwn stuff,hyper-inflation is goina b high. the govern's only way is to print, print, print.they have no other option to save the states and local govern's with.
