P13315 No worries there! Someday, when we all run out of food, yeah, but when the internet goes down and the power goes out, I'll still be getting SOME information. I ordered a solar/electric device charger, so the phones will be charged and rechargeable batteries will charge too. I just stumbled on to it..... it was giggle worthy. Yah on the solar charger. The little one was easy. It’s the house that I ain’t ready for. But I think, pending no fucking ice storms, we have electricity in most places, for awhile. I could see a portioning off of the grid in serous conversations at the DOenergy right now. Certain places will be considered “worth protecting” or “easier to maintain”. I don’t envy anyone in these meetings right now. I'm pretty sure they've already done that years ago. The grid isn't all in one. They are/can be connected through transmission lines, that's how the SW juggles things in the summer. Texas has at least 2. I know Reese AFB used to get power from 3 if needed, when it was still open. I wouldn't want to be in charge of those decisions. After Katrina the order was hospitals, grocery stores and then the rest. Some crews were sent to the hard struck areas and some to the easy areas. The hope was the easy areas would be able to house the hard struck areas whether through family, friends or shelters. Luckily, I was only without power a few days. I did have to take my heat sensitive dogs to board at the vet who was on the same line as Walmart. It was weird when we all had to go to a certain spot to get cell reception to call out. It felt like we were cut off from the world at times. People suck. |
