OTOH, I think it would be quite feasible to have 7.62 belt fed semi-auto guns on top of towers. I have been thinking you could have a unit that is hoisted up a steel pipe about 100 feet up to cover a wide area. There are scopes available that have day/night vision capability and electronic output.

An operator in a bunker could aim and fire the gun. 7.62 can reach out over 1000 meters.

I would suggest a minimum of three towers which can cover each other. The units can be lowered to resupply ammo.

Each gun unit will require armor and the gun/scope has to be in a tube with baffles to keep the zombies from shooting back.

Oh, and for drones, you just need Cajuns with 12 gauge shotguns. Or you could get serious and use 10 gauge with tungsten shot for more range.

Not even shocked at these numbers, and it’s barely even gotten started.

Actually, when we first met, Raffette "tolerated" my preparedness tendencies. Lucky for me, one of the things we realized we had in common on our first date was we had both read the novel "War Day," and it both had an impact on us. Early in our marriage she allowed me to keep about 30 days of supplies on hand. Later, when we bought a bigger house I increased that to 90 days.

After the North Korea nuclear crisis back in 2016 when they detonated their first multi-stage thermonuclear weapon, she relented and allowed me to spend the money for building the shelter I wanted and to bump our stocks to 180 days. When Covid first appeared on the scene back in January, she realized as quickly as everyone else did on here how serious it might get, and we bumped up to a year's worth of supplies as quickly as we could.

She and I conduct thought experiments sometimes. If we were on a long drive out of state, I would say something like, "We just saw a blinding flash of light and we see a mushroom cloud about 25 miles behind us. What's the first thing we do?" Or I might do something similar with an EMP event and the truck dying on the highway.

She's a good sport, intelligent and resourceful, and one of the very few people I trust implicitly. If I have to go through the apocalypse, she's an excellent partner to do it with.

Thank you to all who wished us well with my report of COVID close contact and testing. Montana is presently a crapshoot.

My daughter, 20, son, 17, and myself have had positive tests. Haven’t heard back yet from my staff.

I would like to keep a rolling journal here of how we each progress through this, if no one minds terribly.

My first symptom was burning eyes, watery nose just like it was a big allergy attack. Shortly after onset of those symptoms, within an hour, I had a dry cough, nausea, diarrhea, my neck locked up, muscle fatigue and a migraine set in. My muscle symptoms may not be typical because of pre-existing conditions. In fact I should likely be lumped in with the “underlying conditions” group. However, I’m 5’9, 120lbs, healthy and active and I take a daily regimen of supplements including vit C, D, zinc, oreganol, etc, due to diet restrictions. Over the next 3 days I had a fever, on and off but never over 100, and the cough became steady, every breath and every word I speak a cough is there. But there’s no mucous collecting, no fluid building up. I also became quite ill a few weeks ago. All the same symptoms as now. Went for a COVID test august 7, which was negative. But I don’t get sick. Haven’t had so much as a cold in 10 years. I think it’s possible that this occurrence is actually a recurrence and previous test was a false negative or not enough antibodies to be isolated.

Daughter: let me first say that I believe she had this already in February. In that case she felt fine one day and the next she couldn’t breathe, described it as an elephant on her chest, had 104 fever, body aches. She went to minor emergency. They suggested she go to ER for because she was dehydrated. Her O-sat was 83%. This current infection started for her about a month ago with unexplained hives breaking out over her entire body, some intermittent cold symptoms, felt like she had a sinus/ear infection, diarrhea and nausea. She went to the doctor for that and they sent her home telling her it was probably irritation from the wildfire smoke. Those symptoms have all continued with the addition in the last 5 days of body aches, burning eyes, extreme neck stiffness, swollen glands, painful kidneys/back. She went to the doctor with those symptoms 2 days before we went for the COVID test and was told she was fine and the hives and back pain were probably from work, where her building is not air conditioned and she was processing a lot of books. As of now she is still experiencing all these symptoms and extreme fatigue, can’t taste or smell, headache. She has run an intermittent low fever. She is healthy, athletic, 6’ tall 185lbs.

Son: I believe he already had it once in May. He had a co-worker with a positive test and had cold/flu symptoms within 24 hours of her report. This current infection hit him the same way. Quickly, cold/flu symptoms and he can’t taste or smell, headache that he describes as “dagger stuck through his brain right through the middle of his forehead”. Shortness of breath and unproductive deep cough, vomiting. He has also had the intermittent low fever. He is 6’5, 210lbs, healthy and athletic. 14 kids in his friend group are now confirmed positive.

My youngest son, 13, also had cold symptoms around the first of august. Was exposed to a confirmed positive at a soccer tournament. Has been experiencing cold symptoms again for about 2 weeks. He is 5’5, 100 lbs healthy and athletic. There are currently 117 quarantined students/staff at his school.

My oldest daughter, 26, her husband, 28, both who are average height, overweight and sedentary, and their 10 month old had the same symptoms in that august time frame, were tested negative at that time as well. the baby is currently experiencing them again. There was a confirmed case at his daycare 2 weeks ago. His mom has a confirmed case reported at her work 2 days ago. They are bank tellers and share the headsets at the drive thru.

Just noticed the lack of birds.
During lock down my estate got over run by seagulls (no one buying sea front fast food “fish n chip” McDonald’s closed along with everything else.
During a vital time for bird reproduction and sustainability. The seagulls invaded everywhere eating everything. Now there are no birds

I wanted to add a couple things I forgot. Firstly, I’m not an angry person, it usually takes a LOT before I exhibit anger.

The day I first started getting symptoms this second go around, that would have been last Saturday October 3, I woke up angry. Every little thing straight pissed me off. Every driver on the way to work and every customer when I got there. Every little tiny thing that I usually just let roll off my back. I was tense and high strung. The next day wasn’t much better and I had a short fuse those first 3 days. Today I don’t feel horrible in the grand scheme of me; achy, typical neck lock headache, no fever, still dry cough with speaking.

20 y/o daughter has been extremely moody this week. Up and down between sad, angry and depressed all week. Not typical, she’s very independent and outspoken, but this is unusual for her. Reminds me of bipolar but cycling within minutes. Today she is lethargic. Stayed in her bed til a few minutes ago to grab a sprite. She can’t taste anything but bitter and can’t smell at all. Can’t turn her head at all and she has a burning sensation “all the way down her throat”. Her lymph nodes are extremely painful in her armpits today, where yesterday it was just her neck that was bothering her.

17 y/o son has had several violent loud outbursts at his younger brother for little of nothing. He is still asleep by the way, I can hear him snoring through his closed door but he’s been asleep 14 hours now. Again very unusual behaviors for him. He’s really a gentle giant normally.

Where I Live where wild birds are everywhere, now they are none The seagulls ate them all. They eat anything.

I have birds but only a couple of varieties compared to years before. And they are hitting the seed so hard.

What I notice is a lack of bugs. Normal summer sounds like crickets, frogs, cicadas are almost non existent.

ETA, I realize frogs are not bugs
