Morning update.
Got a call from doctor today to see how we are feeling. Seemed genuinely concerned for our progress.
I feel worse today. Shoulders and neck are flu-like achiness. Nasal drainage has become thick now instead of just a trickle of water. Still the dry cough though. And I have the tingly sensation again in my nose and upper lip that you feel when a sickness first coming on. Scratchy throat.
20y/o dd is awake. She says her throat feels like it’s in shreds. Neck and armpit glands are less swollen. She thinks she is getting an ear infection. Said her “Eustachian tube feels like it’s swollen all the way down.” Exhausted, fatigued. Just wants to sleep. Still can’t taste or smell. Couldn’t smell roasted garlic.
I tried a test. I sneeze every single time I open black pepper, even before I sprinkle it. Today I didn’t sneeze. Didn’t even sneeze when I sprinkled it. So I straight up sniffed the bottle...nothing. Had daughter try it...nothing. I can still smell it, but she can’t. Neither of us had a fever.
17y/o ds finally woke up yesterday. Feels the same, no better or worse. Loss of balance I noticed. He was standing in front of me talking and then turned to sit on the couch and almost toppled over. He hasn’t got up from sleep yet today, but when he does I will try the pepper.
I will separate out a second starter colony of roaches. Been planning to do that for dd to have her own colony anyway. If the theory holds true they should’ve already been contaminated since I feed the dragons every other day, but I’ll start recording if I notice any die offs or if I notice any changes in dragon behaviors. I will do the same for the crickets and super worms as well, but I guess I won’t be able to tell if the dragons have caught symptoms from which feeder bug.

I am SO sorry y'all got it. It's hard enough when just one person is sick with the seasonal stuff. Seems to me sleeping is a good thing. The body heals better when it's not working hard.

I appreciate you documenting your story here. It helps to see what others have and are doing while ill. My allergies are on overdrive right now and I'll admit, I've been concerned a couple of times. I've been watching my husband like a hawk because he's been out and about more than I have.

It's almost impossible as a parent with sick kids, but do remember to be nice to yourself, too. Grab that rest whenever you can. Prayers said and sent.

Actually, I think he truly believes that he is cured and immune. He doesn't understand the disconnect between the medical care provided to him as POTUS and the medical care provided to a single mother who earns $20,000/year with no health insurance. Moreover, even if that disconnect were explained to him in such a way that he understood it, I don't think he would care.

The truth is there is nothing left to do but live our lives in a much more dangerous world. And we should try to prepare as much as possible so that we can handle the next few years of chaos as the system realigns itself. It’s never going away, we don’t know how to fix it, and the world in 2020 is now more like the world in 1900 than 2018 in terms of health risks. Maybe that’ll change one day but not any time soon.

And if someone is at high risk, they should take more precautions. But everyone on the planet will get this virus. Everyone. We all need to accept it.

Each person should do what they believe is best for themselves and the larger community they're part of.

Some choose to remain away from others and may have the ability to do so. Others may not have such a choice and, hopefully, with a sense of personal responsibility, interact as they must.

He did obviously have to mute his mic during his Fox interview, and it sounded like he was coughing. Apparently Chris Christie was never actually on a ventilator ... I think that rumor was debunked.

Trump's claims of immunity are just utterly reckless, when there's no evidence at all that any sort of long-term immunity happens after infection. He does look like he's doing reasonably well, which is good news, but a lot of his supporters are going to become even more obnoxious now.

I worry a great deal about this “release the real bioweapon” stuff going around because there are mutations occurring that will make this much more serious. In particular, the ORF3b mutations that can make this virus more like the original SARS in terms of IFR are of great concern. Eventually this virus will become about 5-10x more lethal. We can only hope it doesn’t also become more contagious at the same time.

I don't see what is the relevance in bringing up complete darkness either. The virus doesn't need complete darkness to survive on surfaces. The UV-C rays, which is the specific type of UV involved in stopping the covid-19, doesn't pass through clouds nor does it penetrate glass. That means cloudy days will not hinder the virus. Nor will sunlight shining on the virus through glass stop the virus from being infectious. This is bad news considering that winter tends to have more cloudy days, but even on the days when there is some direct sunlight people will still be spending more time indoors where the UV-C rays will not reach.
