As of today in MS we are close to capacity in our ICU beds. NOT due to covid, but other illnesses that haven't been controlled since Covid hit. Many docs are still doing telehealth appointments and those suck for serious conditions. You can't listen to someone's lungs over the internet unless you have a blue tooth stethoscope at the pts house and they know where to place it. A lot of non-tech savvy pts are just not "fooling" with doing telehealth visits and wait until they are in crisis before coming to the ER to be seen. This means they usually have to be admitted to get their illness under control. I'll go ahead and say it, some of these docs are pussies and need to man up and see their freaking pts in PERSON. Most of these people have been staying home due to their illness and are extremely low risk for having the virus. Just flat out ridiculous.

If you see numbers come out about our hospital capacity being close to full, it's NOT covid pts at the moment. We have decreased the capacity of our covid units due to lack of need and increased need of non-covid beds. We've been holding up to 25 non-covid pts in the ER and it's exhausting. We have to take care of floor pts along with ICU and ER pts. We'll see how long this lasts, but that's my on the ground report for now.

The argument for why the vaccines should be distributed globally and in co-operatingis not just to do with ethics but more importantly it's the best way to go about reducing global transmission fastest. Which is the best way to reduce the number of lockdowns, ensure supply chains are resilient which in turn leads to a higher economic growth and better quality of life for ALL countries.

I realize the word globalist is anathema to Trump supporters, but it's simply a fact that we live in a globalized economy and that's what propels a large amount of economic growth for most if not all countries.
