People always look at this as say "aha see, false positive, obs its a hoax, bla bla lets all go out and rub ourselves on each other etc etc"

But this goes both ways. It could also have been false negatives.

Given what we have seen up to now, and especially when people are sick, I think the chances of it being a false negative are greater than a false positive.

Cos again, if people are sick, have nothing else wrong with them, but get a negative test, that still begs the question that is being ignored "whats wrong them?"

But yeah, if tests are not accurate, it does make one wonder, but its not a matter of "data is wrong, there's no pandemic, back to normal" its "data is uncertain, there may be 10x less sick or 10x more, we just don't know, be extra careful"

Just an update: I have asthma and COVID has hit me hard. My doctors are trying to keep me at home if at all possible because of the surge and the need for beds, but I have to go into the ER once a day for two intramuscular shots: one is an anti-inflammatory and one injectible ibuprofen or something along those lines. I have no idea what they give me but it eases my lungs enough that I can stop coughing and get my pulse ox back in the 90s.

The problem is that I don't really know anything. Because the rest of my family is also positive, no one is allowed to come into the hospital with me, and I'm busy trying to breathe so can't follow what they are giving me and can't talk to ask questions and can't take notes. My daughter has been in and out of the hospital since she was little and I have always been her advocate. People who will be hospitalized for COVID won't have that.

After a bad day yesterday, I was desperate and took one of my daughter's marijuana gummies. It tooks ages--like an hour or more later--but it opened up my lungs and stopped the bronchial spasms and I slept for four hours.

I realize we don't all have the same political views (and that is an understatement), and we also don't have the exact same views about the virus.

But it is getting hysterical in here. And I don't mean funny. I mean crazy.

Dangerous Times just apologized for posting something political, and THIS IS HIS THREAD! He can post whatever he wants!

He has done an amazing job leaving this thread wide open to all opinions, whether on the virus, politics, or mayo. That is the reason this thread has endured since January. Kudos, OP.

But lately we've had way too many regulars on the thread trying to shut other people down.

My best example: DR and Jazz50. The comments to them lately are quite abusive. You don't have to agree with them, but please ignore them if you can't control yourself enough to make an opposing opinion without insulting them or just flat-out trying to denigrate them.

Everybody needs to back off a little. Not on your convictions. Just how you post.

Use the phone to record the conversation. Then you be able to listern back at a slower pace.

Welp. Cruise ship voyages have started up again... and so have the cruise ship outbreaks.

First cruise ship to resume cruising in the Caribbean "SeaDream 1", and AT LEAST 5 cases of Covid have been found aboard, but the full number has not been revealed yet. At least 1 person is considered to be 'sick'. All 53 Passengers, majority from US, & 66 crew have been confined to cabins. Cruise has been ended early and they want to dock the ship in Barbados but have not been given permission to do so yet.

The ship's doctor commented: “We all felt very safe, yet somehow, Covid appears to have got on board.”

Who in their right mind would get on one of those floating Petri dishes?
