Yes, 2 weeks after leaving Nepal and me mum n daughter test positive after my mum got sick and we all had a mild fever a few days ago.
Fever gone but some coughing but my mum has copD and is chuffin on inhaler a lot but seems ok otherwise.

Of course i am getting the blame from sisters and i can sadly hear the shielded calls my mum makes which is making me feel very uneasy about everything.

Turns out the guy that took us to the airport in Kathmandu has it and despite all wearing masks in car that is the likely source, that or on one of 2 flights getting back...?

Anyway, have not had much time to update lately with all the stuff going on but thought i would check in, will update any changes

10 flippin months into it, 6 of them in one of toughest lock downs in the world n the second we bolt back to UK this happens ... I shouldn't larf really but i did wonder the same!! We are in a rural village that seems to have escaped it for the most part but withing a few days of us arriving locals started getting it..... of course, we were isolating but it does make me wonder, mum is sick and she is vulnerable and in her 70's so i am worried tbf, we will see what the dr says 2m but she seems okish, just heavy chesty cough but no fever or loss of smell etc so hopefully she will be fine, dr did give her steroids for a chest infection (covid) a few days ago but mum did not have the test then so...?

A) Snippy from court document they do not provide in a language that court does not rule in. Great. That's a believable way to present science.
B) According to them the PCR is <3% reliable at 35 cycles to indicate infection, yet all those whom are positive are counted as cases. Great.
B.1.) Portugal has 230,124 cases and 3,553 deaths reported. So if at most 3% of cases are actually infected ((230,124/100)*3 ~= 6,900) then Covid now has a mortality rate of 50%.
B.1.1) If you are carrying a virus and may be infected with it, and said virus has a mortality rate of 50%; and a PCR test can show you have a >0% chance of spreading it, you should stay home.

In the end, the PCR test detects if there is viral RNA in the sample tested, whether a person is actually infected at that point can be hard to tell without multiple biopsies of internal organs. If the person subsequently becomes infected after is also hard to tell. This is assuming a infected person is infectious in that the virus is replicating within a person and the amount of virus expelled into the environment exceed initial intake of virus.

Testing allows us to move away from a scenario of complete lockdown to simply isolating those whom have confirmed exposure.
