DUTCHY, do u have any research handy that tells us how long the virus survives in air with the colder temps? we kknow it lates longer on surfcaes,but did anyone run scenarios for tha cold air?

was thinking of this today as ppl walk out of stores and remove the masks. that virus doesn't die fast like it would in summer with sun and heat.

I understand the math and reasoning behind the above, but someone please explain to me (and I'm being serious, not snarky) how they can call it a vaccine when you can still get Covid?

I know they said the people in the study who got Covid didn't have SEVERE symptoms, but that implies that they did indeed have symptoms. Don't MOST people have less than severe symptoms? The probability would seem high that those people in the study would have had the same outcome WITHOUT the vaccine.

This just seems like a pre-treatment, if anything. Kind of like Spray and Wash.

I agree, and I understand the Catch-22 in play here. We need a functioning economy as well as overall public health. But color me skeptical over this vaccine.

I wonder what color skeptical should be? They say you are green with envy, you see red when you're angry, or you're yellow if you are a coward. I say skeptical should be purple.

I'm just purple with skepticism!

That's a big slowdown on the increase in the week before.

I spoke with a friend of mine in a federal agency recently. I don't want to reveal too much because he will most likely get in trouble if something he says based on knowledge obtained from his job is found posted publicly. He's not even allowed to have a FaceBook account. Those of you who know me know I'm not a LARP-er; those of you who don't can take this with however much salt you want. But he is in a position to know these things.

He essentially said that it does not matter whether or not the United States locks down at this point. This winter is going to be brutal as far as the covid numbers are concerned. We're just going to have to buckle up for the bumpy ride and get through it.

That being said, he also gave me some hope on the vaccines that are currently in the pipe. He indicated there are just some unknowns that will remain unknowns until they deploy the vaccines on a national scale, and there might be some initial problems with efficacy across all virus strains, but the scientific progress that has been made over the past 10 months has been far more staggering than is generally known. And while we might not get back to "normal" this year or next, we will get back to "normal" sooner than most people think.

You all know I am not one for hopium, but I did feel better about our long-term outlook after talking to him.
